I agree on the latter. The former, not so much.

Damn those things are ugly. But you don't catch 'em for their looks, eh?
They are absolutely delicious. Like halibut but more buttery and tender. Keep in mind, that fish just had its throat cut (it's best to bleed them out), and my buddy is being really REALLY careful about those teeth. They are WICKED sharp. They don't normally look quite like that.

4-ish miles with my wife Tiny E; I think my caloric intake the last couple of days has outstripped my calories burned

Thanks. I load 180 Accubonds in my '06. I could tell that was a Euro scope but couldn't tell which.

You're welcome. I like to step up bullet size as caliber increases e.g. 150gr (TTSx) in my .308, 165gr (NAB) in .30-06, and 180gr (NAB) in my .300WinMag.

I shift the scale over a notch-- so,180 NAB's in the '06 and 200 NAB's in my 300 WM. The .30 cal 200 is a cool bullet; I found it to be very accurate. Did kill a couple elk with the 8mm 200's in a .325. Worked GREAT. My '06-class hunting rifle these days is a 7 WSM. For general hunting, 160 NAB. Sorry for the gun gack; I was intrigued by your scope. It looked like a cross between my Conquests and my Swaro AV.

Slim pickings, but yeah, we found enough to make a crustini (sp?) to go with dinner and for my kid to take some back up to her college house. Also sent her up with crab, ling, and rockfish, frozen of course. Not a good chanterelle year at all. Probably too dry in October. You guys have chanterelles in Montana? Some years they flush massively here. We also get porcini in our own woods some years- wow.
Lotta ticks this fall. Every hike, we are pulling them off the dogs and OURSEVES. Yuck.
