Hi. I'm looking for load data for the 65gr Gameking in 22-250. I have the data for 63 and 69 gr Sierra bullets but can't find any for the 65. I've checked the Sierra data link from Accurate Shooter and also loadata.com. Any help would be much appreciated.

My edition of the Sierra manual shows the same load data for both the 63 and 65 grain bullets. It does say that the 65 requires a 1-10 twist barrel. Both my 22-250s are 1-14 twist so I've never tried the 65s myself. Got a 1-12 coming and I may try them, but I'm not holding my breath that they'll stabilize.

I have a 12 twist and they won't work for me.

I shoot a lot of the 63 SMPs in my 22-250 and get great accuracy and velocities with 34 grains of varget. That's a max load according to Hodgdon so work up.

A Sierra tech told me 65 SGK and 63 Smp data was pretty much interchangeable because the bearing surface is very close to the same. If you have the twist for it they are worth a try, if not the 63 is a great killer and very accurate if you choose to try them

I have some of the 63s and I've heard great things about them in slow twist barrels. May try them in one of 22-250s or my Swift. I think I'll leave the 65s for my 9 twist 223s.

I shoot the 65's out of my 223 AI and like them but the old ugly 63 is still my favorite for some reason.

Thanks for the information. I have a 1:9 twist Savage and was hoping to try the 65s. If they don't shoot like I hope I'll try the 63s.
Thanks again

The 9 twist will handle the 65 just fine, which one will shoot the best depends on the gun.

I have a 22-250 Savage 1:9 twist, using 65 gr sierra sbt, 29.7 gr Hodgdon H4895, ogive 2.090. This combo shoots great out of my gun, I shot 12 rounds of virgin brass at 100yds and shot 1 hole, just wanted to shoot the brass, was pleasantly surprised. Tried hotter loads but this combo works for my gun. Started with powder charges, then when I found the right load, tried different lengths starting 10 thousandths back, until I found the sweet spot. Don't own a chronograph, but would like to know the muzzle velocity. Snuzem, try different loads, but the 65's shoot great out of my Savage [Linked Image]

Odds are they'll shoot that bullets been accurate in every 22 caliber rifle I've tried them in. In my 8 twist Tikka 22-250 I'm using CFE223 with them.
