Used to see helos from JBER in Anchorage picking up ice at Portage Glacier.... I'm sure they are more circumspect now as I haven't seen one there in years. Plenty of glaciers in Alaska, more out of sight....
Glacial ice, for those not in the know, have properties in a cold one that ice machine ice does not.

Some years back the powers that be put cease and desist order out after someone reported that military helicopters were regularly landing at Moonlight Bar-B Que buffet restaurant over in Owensboro, KY around lunch time, the crews chowing down on their popular BBQ buffet.

Some years back the powers that be put cease and desist order out after someone reported that military helicopters were regularly landing at Moonlight Bar-B Que buffet restaurant over in Owensboro, KY around lunch time, the crews chowing down on their popular BBQ buffet.
They do the same thing at a BBQ restaurant in Herndon KY, which is located only a few miles from FT Campbell.
