Hello all,

I'am looking for a Texas Longhorn Arms Grover's improved #5, anyone have one they are willing to part with?
I have a pocket full of cash and an empty holster!

What is so special about it that makes you pine for one?

He founded Texas Longhorn Arms and made left handed versions of Sam Colt's invention, contending that ole Sam was actually left handed. So, Bill made SAA's, or his version thereof, for right handed folks.

This one is in .45 LC and has a .45 Mag cylinder, factory fitted. I found that the .45 Mag version was slightly more accurate than the LC, so it wears that cylinder. The previous owner sent it to Dave Clements, gunsmith, to rebuild the hammer. Seems that Bill Grover's heat treatment was not always consistent and the hammer was too soft. Dave did a great job repairing and re-hardening the hammer. The gun is 100% and is a pleasure to shoot.

I bought that gun a few years back!
To be honest and factual, my father bought it a few years back.

Can't help but I ordered mine directly from Bill in 1993. I had a nice two hour visit and tour with him then.

I shoot left handed and I have to agree that the loading gate on the right side of the cylinder is built for a southpaw.

You swing the gate open with your left thumb and run the ejector rod with your right hand, while rotating the cylinder with your left hand trigger finger... used to be pretty fast at emptying a Ruger Single-Six and a Super Blackhawk.

Beautiful and the holy grail of handguns for me. I wish I'd have bought one when they came up regularly on rugerforums.

I do remember when they were available from TX Longhorn Arms. But I didn't remember that they were under a grand! I believe we paid about $45/SF for a decent custom house around that time, too. Haha!
