You did take a kayak with you. right?

5 deer, thats a lot of dragging, Scott. Your Dad told us once that you are good at it. laugh

Congrats to you and your Dad on some nice bucks.

The buzz here on the fire is your hunt is going to be the "poster" thread for the Creedmoor crowd. grin

All the best,

Wayne

Wayne,

*laughing* - no kayak this year. And, there was one additional doe harmed later in the week.

I like the Creedmoors but 40 other chamberings would have been equally effective - including a 12 gauge with slugs at the distances we both shot our bucks. laugh
I had some scope issues with the new .270 prior to the NE trip and put it away to be sorted out later, otherwise that would have made the trip.

Sweet bucks.
Great hunt.
Even better that you get to share it with your dad.

Great hunting story Scott! You keep making the memories with the best hunting partner you will ever have; your dad. My Pops has been gone for 7 years now...I do have 41 years of reminiscing about hunting with my old guy. First, when I was young at his side being taught how to hunt, and then him with me, being set up to take some nice deer and elk I would find just for him...Looking forward to next years hunt story...I like my Creedmore enough that I’m looking at setting it into a Manners MCS-PRS1TK soon..😎

Hey Scott, on the yearlings, with the 6mm did you find one more messy than the other (Begers/Hornady)?

Well, I'd say 103 ELDX made smaller holes but the damage to meat from the 105 VLD and ELDX was equally violent and strawberry-esque. whistle
The guy steering the bullets is partly to blame too - old habits die hard and this knucklehead can never seem to stay off of bone. If a stranger was cutting up the meat, they might surmise I was at war with the animals.

S2's & LRX's might be driven next year if I take a 6mm.

Not finding anything wrong with the habit of staying on the bone but maybe we both need to re-examine bullets.

Thanks!

Yes. Now that I have learned how to get the TTSX's to shoot in my rifles, I've become a fan of them. Also, after taking two Black Bears with the 200gr TTSX in my .358Win. and this year's Kansas buck with the 6.5CM, 120gr TTSX, (all high shoulder shots) I've become an even greater fan of them due to the lack of carnage to the carcass. As they say, "you can eat right up to the hole"

Scott,
Thanks for letting us gather round the campfire and listen to your hunt. As per usual, it never fails to entertain. Great job and congrats.
