My father was like that - not literally under $500 because he owned a couple pairs of relatively expensive dress shoes for work. He had very few clothes outside of his work clothing. Other than his dress shoes for work, he had maybe 1 pair of boots and 1 pair of sneakers (always New Balance because they were American made when he was living). He was very intelligent and smart with how he spent his money. Sometimes I think about what a minimalist he was and feel embarrassed that I am so susceptible to consumerism. He grew up during WWII and lived through some lean times. He also raised 7 children with my mother and they somehow managed to save enough to pay all of our ways through private colleges. He was an impressive guy and I don't say that just because he was my father. In short, I won't judge a man on the value of his shoe collection.

Boots are something that you really do get what you pay for and good boots are worth their weight in gold.

3-4 pair of cowboy boots

3 pair of pac boots

3 pair of hiking boots

2-3 pair of rubber irrigating boots

Hate to add it all up, worse than a godddamn women.....grin

Hell, there is at least 3-4 pair of wore out boots, that for whatever reason, I just can't toss in the trash...

Coincidentally, just this morning I went through the accumulation of boots here. In addition to the “boots that didn’t work out”, I too have a bunch of worn out old work boots I just can’t seem to let go. It’s time to thin the herd.

I recently took possession of a pair of the Zamberlan 1030. What an incredible boot. I might buy a second pair to back these up.

See... That’s how it happens!

I have had my favorite pair of Tony Lama's to the cobbler half a dozen times.

He wont fix them.

I even tried showing up wearing a fake mustache once. He still would not fix them.

Dude, are they that worn out? We need a pic.

Are those Kennetrek boots like Sal's rebuildable. I cannnot justify that kind of money for a pair of shoes that will wear out on the sole and still have perfectly usable uppers.

Most of the boots I have are welted and resolable. Double H, Justin, Redwing, Danner, Carolina. I do have a pair that rides in the truck all the time, Vasque, that have the new style soles. I got them though a job I had and while comfortable they won't be fixable when the soles finally go. That pisses me off.

Best boots I ever had was a pair of Eye Talian leathers.

Re soled them about once every other year for 6-8 years before they were done. Went to buy a new pair and they were discontinued. Must have trashed heir lasts because the new ones don’t fit anything like the old ones. Or maybe my foot changed.

Whatever. I’d give $500 for a new pair of Scarpas like my old ones.

You guys could have it worse. I have a friend who's feet are two different sizes, so he has to buy boots two pair at a time.

Fortunately, his brother has opposite sized feet, so I guess it works out OK for them.

Dad was at Fort Knox and Mom was home in a house that was in pieces from a failed remodel.

The nuns called up and said they had a little boy available but he had a bunch of Eskimo blood in him.......is that okay??

Thats how I got my start on the comedy scene.

Jim, I’m sorry people are so mean to you...If you were to raise your little bowl in both hands above your head and say “More Biscuits, please, Sir”...I would remind you that line cutting isn’t acceptable and make you stand in the corner with your bowl still above your head. At least you’d have more biscuits in it. I’m not heartless 😎

Your real moustache was probably poking out from behind the fake one
