Just saw a blurb for it, not fully announced yet.

But it’s a 110. Looks somewhat like the 50th Anniversary 110. They’ll be releasing full specs in next day or so.

Sad when they can’t even do a small anniversary run of 99’s. The CE’s were fine.

Ok, but 1895 was 124 years ago...

Yeah, too bad they didn’t contract out for a limited run. Though it would be nice seeing a domestic maker, I bet Miroko in Japan could have figured it out.

They could've at least scooped up an arm full of old 99's and given them the full custom shop treatment to honor the occasion.

Would be neat if they would chamber it in the 4 Savage cartridges.

Even neater still if they'd bring back the old Savage logo. The company name is Savage for Christ sake.

What incentive does Savage have to set up a production line in order to produce a limited number of 99s?

It has been over 30 years since Savage sold any volume of 99s and I don't think that there is enough market demand to make reintroducing them a financially viable option. If they did reintroduce them there would likely be an immediate spike in demand, but I think that it would be a flash in the pan, not on-going sustainable demand.

If the powers that be at Savage did decide to waste money, they would probably waste a little less if they were to contract with Miroku to make them, but I wonder what the price point would have to be for Savage to break even.

Well,if Savage could have made a little profit selling M99s under Ron's leadership I'm sure that they would have continued production. Given that, since Miroku manufactured Winchester M94s are selling for about $1000 it's probably an even bet that Savage M99s could also find a limited market at the $1000 price point.

Jeff, I agree with much of what you say. But..

The 1,000 Centennial Edition 99's sold and were popular.

The 1,000 50th Anniversary 110s stuck on the shelves of mfrs for several years until the last ones were sold. Even now there's nobody saying "Wow, wish I could find one".

The 125th Anniversary is a model 110 or 14 or some such, and from the pictures isn't nearly as nice as the 50th anniversary.

They should either do something the customers want, or not do it at all.

Could they have set up a production line, kicked out 1,000 1899CD like rifles and made money? I dunno. But people would have scrambled to buy them. Will they scramble to buy 14s with some scrollwork? We'll see.

i really do like the Savage 99`s and own a half dozen, but my thought would be maybe a Savage 24 ? in a 556/20 gauge S.S. in a model 42 compact ?something many of of us could use, plus Savage has the tooling to do a 0ver/under ? but either would be fine too.

It's got to be a 99 or nothing for me. The bolt is on the wrong side of that 125th Anniversary bolt gun.
When I interviewed Ron for my book he practically had tears in his eyes when he talked about having to discontinue the 99. David

How about a "Centennial" Model 1920 with a proprietary 250-3000AI cartridge, a 1-10 twist barrel, drilled and tapped for a scope? cool

Savage could also introduce the "22-250AI" cartridge for an even bigger bang! wink

Thanks for sharing that Rory! I think that shiny anniversary model 14, especially if it comes with a 10-twist 250 barrel, is a very fitting anniversary issue, and will be very popular. Now if it had a rotating bolt with a claw extractor like the model 20, and a lever like the 99, it would be popular for all time!

..wait, then it would be a browning.., never mind,...

wink

I think my 50th 110 would go out the door before most of my 99's! I do have a few rats that might go first? And I like the 50th but its NOT a 1895, 1899 or 99.

I'd love to have a 50th 110.

Miroko or this. What a clever idea for creating a limited run of commemoratives. And it’s not like restorable 99s aren’t out there, right guys?! Damn, we should see if we couldn’t do a batch deal with someone like Turnbull (which I say half tongue in cheek but I think you get the point). It’s a great idea!

...hmmm, "110 action" but no long action cartridges? I wonder if it's their current 4.4" short action screw spacing receiver, or something altogether new.

It will have to be something pretty special to be popular at $1500 per
