PS is it a sin if I season my CI skillet right side up in the oven?

You do what you want Geno! Free country.

This cast iron debate strikes me kind of like a person who buys a new motorcycle.

Naturally you want to take care of it, but eventually its going to get dirty.

You can polish your motorcycle all day long....or you could ride the damn thing!

My motorcycles were never clean.
Well, maybe overnight, but that's about it.

Oh yeah, cast iron, you can use soap, and if cooking for the public must use soap to clean your cookware.

FG,

that is quite a nice collection,

Love the Revere Ware skillet too. Reminds me, I should bring mine in from the RV gear I brought back with me. Already have a fully stocked kitchen, we got money for our wedding nearly twenty years back and we got a very nice set of Meyer stainless pots with the cast aluminum bottom. They don't season as nice as CI though, or heat up as quickly as a copper bottom Revere Ware pot.

Geno

PS, the other benefit to this cast iron stuff, especially for us older folks..............................it keeps the muscles in tone takin' 'em down and puttin' em back up!

Geno.....that stainless pot's actually some European contraption that I got at a yard sale about 40 years ago.
The copper bottom is pretty close to a 1/2" thick and concave shaped. It's a great little pot that I use for stuff with tomato's in it. Everything else goes in CI.

I hear you about hefting those CI pans....my dear wife hated CI for just that reason.
She'd tend em once I got everything out and set up though so I figured it was the least I could do.

Cool Charlie,

I hadn't noticed the bottom of the pot, just the little fry pan hanging on the left of the CI in the one pic. That sauce pot would get some use around here for sure.

Gottcha Geno.....I had forgotten about those two pans hanging by the window.....the one on the left is indeed a Revere Ware I found at a campsite years ago.....my buddy was getting ready to use it for target practice but fortunately I stopped him in the nick of time.....the one on the other side of the window is the same Mfg. as the sauce pan....those two European pans are pretty dear to me.
