Looking Good!

I like the matte surfaces.
I am one of few that does not like the highly polished blade.

Loose some belly, straighten the spine, nail heat treat and you are there.

That trumps ALOTTA "Pro's"................

This is my Jerry rigged setup, made with stuff I had laying around. It’s set up on the end of a rolling bench so I can wheel it out when I take mommas car out. It’s not pretty but it’ll work for for now.

I’m taking mental notes and hitting the order button on more steel. It would be nice to have finite control over heat, but my forge is pretty basic. That’s why for now I’m sticking with the easier high carbon steels. Not ready to commit to a kiln yet, or a 2x72 for that matter.

You are already in too deep to get out.
I have made blades on 10" disc grinder, 1"x42", 4"x36", 6"x48", 1"x60" and finally bought a 2"x72".
Life changes with a 2x72. You will see for yourself somewhere in the future.

As to listening to any individual suggestions, just remember they are individual suggestions and there are

Do what you like first. Then do what someone requests from you as best you can and go from there.

Nice start, but warn your wife that there is a new dog in the garage.

I agree that not everybody has the same taste. As for the wife, she gave up on the garage a long time ago! grin

I like the wide bevel you have made, it looks like it gives a very keen edge. I like the handle, it has a guard and plenty of room and something to keep it from sliding out of your hand. I like the way you did the lanyard hole. A different looking knife and I think that is a good thing.
