There are some manufactures who sell so called all weather rifles. They are chrome molly steel with a coating on the out side. The bore is left completely unprotected. At night he dried off the rifle, sprayed the bore with wd40 and dried it out as well, then added a thin coat of oil to all. Each night, no problems at all
