Hi all. Looking for recommendations for my local bullseye league. I'd like to compete in a fun kinda way but, don't need to win or put on aires if that makes any sense. I like nice things but, maybe not swiss made nice.... Thanks for your time.

So many options out there. I shot in a local bullseye league for a little while and picked up a S&W Model 41 to do so. Fun gun and plenty accurate but can be a bit picky. There are plenty of guys competing with rugers and browning buckmarks and doing quite well. Sometime I wish I went that route.

I occasionally shoot Bullseye locally. Do it for fun. Centerfire ive used a S&W; m52, m625, m15 and a couple 1911’s. For rimfire it’s been a S&W; m41, Victory, M18. Ruger; MKII 22/45, MKII, MKIII, SP101. All the center fires with open sights, have red dots on a few of the rimfires. Great fun!

If I were to start shooting it more regularly and competively red dots would be a must for me. I really like Ultra Dots. There are many other options. Choice of pistols would be a 1911 and S&W M41. On a budget I’d still go with a 1911 and for rimfire a S&W Victory 22.

Good 1911’s can be found in the $500 range and tinkered with endlessly if desired (think there’s a Ruger 1911 in the classifieds now). They are reliable and with SWC bullets make big clean holes.

S&W 41’s are pricey but worth it. Accurate, terrific triggers, a real pleasure to shoot.

The Victory 22’s are shooters out of the box. Accurate, triggers are good, rail included and easy to install, easy take down, feed anything SV I’ve tried and can be found for less than $350. Tandemcross, Volquartsen and others carry quite a few mods. Minor issue for me was the take down screw worked loose first time out. Corrected this with a drop of low strength lock tight. No issues since.

I’m not familiar with Buckmarks but hear good things. Rugers are accurate but must have some trigger work. Usually some time, tools, less than $100, and YouTube can make them nice. Pre Mark IV can be a pain to field strip. I’ve not had any experience with the newer Mark IV line. Can’t comment on their triggers but do understand take down is a snap.

Extra mags are helpful when your on the line. Speeds things up for everyone. Cheap, small sporting scope also handy. I typically just use binoculars though.

Hope this is helpful. Good luck!

I'm leaning towards the Victory, any sub-suggestions within that line. I'm sorry ffor not looking this up already but, are there optics and iron sight divisions typically or is everyone together and generally speaking which is more fun? I'd be inclined to shoot open sights but if everyone is in the same pot...
