In this market, you should be able to find a clr under $500 without difficulty.

Actually, CLR prices on GB have been going up lately, closer to $600 than $500 when you add in shipping and transfer charges.

I know what I have in my CLR after the upgrades and all told, I could have bought a FC. Mine retains the original barrel and the CLR was had cheap, in near new condition.

Then one has to factor in the year+ long wait.

Only one on gunbroker that I’m aware of which actually sold recently. Plenty of others with higher asks.
And certainly you are correct with regard to S/H/T charges; same apply if bought here however.

Wouldn't sell mine for any reason, but wouldn't go that route again. There's equal/better options for similar price with much less wait time, especially with off the shelf options like the FC.

That was a good price and I had thought about buying it, but decided that since I already have 4 CLRs in 30-06, adding another one didn't seem like a good place to park $525.

Feel the same. Only way I’d do another is if I wanted a chambering not available in the FC ...

I wouldn’t do another, but I’m glad to have met Melvin and toured the shop.

Had a CLR .30/06 for many years, killed a pile of deer, and love it...

Mine retains the OEM barrel and is one of the best shooting barrels I own, amongst Shilen, Rock, Hart, Hawk Hill, Douglas,benchmark..

Melvin said the clr barrels were usually good ... sounds like yours is on the far right side of that spectrum!

Best group it's shot so far. Obviously I'm not trying to claim the rifle shoots like this "all day long" and I stopped at 4 shots because I didn't want to gamble on what the 5th might do (grin) but it's a solid .6-.7, 5-shot group rifle with a Leupold 3-9x vari-xII of all things. 155gr scenars shoot just as well.
