Always keep a physical space between you and the police and never volunteer anything. The police are not you friends.

As long as cops have qualified immunity from prosecutions lots of folks won’t trust them. The reason we trust strangers on the street is we know they are constrained by fear of prosecution if they harm us.

Be careful. I know an Airplane mechanic who almost lost $100,000 that he had saved for retirement it was on a pallet and shrink wrapped and the money was dated so it was obviously older than anything they thought he might have done, but couldn't prove and he had to sue them to get his money back, which took months.
Is it possible that your friend was totally full of schit?

Why do some hate cops so much?
Is it because they couldn't make the cut to be one? or where they naughty and got adjusted by a cop at one time or three?
That surely must be near the top of the list for retarded posts ever on this site, MM Lol, So you didn't make the cut.

A friend, who was a police chief, told me, "The difference between some cops and criminals, is which side of the bars they are located".

An on duty cop is never your friend when he’s asking questions.
That's for certain. They are looking for somebody to ticket or arrest and it's not going to be me. Did my best to educate my daughters on this one. ON THE OTHER HAND: If you're in real trouble a Cop is great to have around. I've had them on my side several times over the decades.

Cops are just people. That makes me very cautious, until I know them. Then, I still never trust completely.
It's the power and authority that gives me pause. I despise arrogance, and a certain level of aloofness helps an officer an officer with many of his duties.
I recently got a ticket for an out of date (almost a year) vehicle inspection. A younger cop, he was very pleasant, polite, and respectful of me. He apologized for writing a ticket, and said a month or two would be a warning, I interrupted, laughing, and said "it a freaking year, write the thing up".
Wife got a call from his boss, wanting to know how the interaction was. When she told him I liked the cop, that the kids and I came in the house laughing, And that I was glad it happened, so the girls experienced a stop and learned what to do, He was speechless.
So, I never tried to be a cop. Never have had a really bad experience, but have been ticketed unfairly. (But I had broken the law) I like that they are there, they provide some control of the bad in society
But no, I don't really trust them.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

It's apparent, that many are answering without watching the video. I would probably answer the same way. I've heard of civil forfeiture but had no idea how out of control it is. Lot's of people walk around with maybe $50 in their pocket and if the cop takes it, no big deal in the long run. But what if they take your car? You have a lot of things of value that could be a real issue to you, or at least to me. It's not right to take your stuff, because they pulled you over for something unrelated. I'm just saying just like there are little towns that make their money giving out tickets, there are whole states that help pay for their police force by civil forfeiture. Just doesn't sit well with me. I've personally never had a negative encounter with a police officer, and would help one in a minute if he/she were in trouble. But something is rotten with civil forfeitures.

As the fellow who taught several CC classes I took said, "The police are NOT your friend." As he was retired Wyoming State Patrol - I'll take him at his word. Re-enforced by many other LEO friends and acquaintances. He's right, if they were it would be considered corruption. They are not your enemy either. Well said, LT.
