I would absolutely not try to bend the blank; the wood has cured into what you see and would likely spring back.

Even with properly cured and laid out blanks, gunmaker D’Arcy Echols turns the blank on his Hoenig duplicator to slightly oversize (undersized on the inletting) then let’s the blank hang for a week or two. He said most move a little during that time. Then he goes to work doing the final shaping and fitting. He says they are pretty stable by then.

I have bought several blanks from Cecil for both rifles and shotguns. He once replaced a $600 blank after heading it up for a Fox shotgun and some shaping was taking place. A irreparable problem showed up but he took care of it.
