That is crazy longevity, I had no idea.
We generally can our black angus bulls when they are 5-6 years old. They get too big and ornery.
Blue, what do you think those big boys weigh?

Blue, I always enjoy seeing the cattle when I am down there. We have a few long horns scattered around in Arkansas, but not many. A fellow had a nice herd of them south of Clarksville a few years ago. Maybe still does. They were big ones. Bigger than most that I see here. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

I went out and had to shoot a bigger steer calf last night.
Got home from the EMT training and had forgotten all about him.
It was no good so I plugged him. At 40 below it would have been a schitty night to suffer.
We have at times sold bulls that weighed 2200 pounds. 5 or 6 years old.
The bulls have been getting a bit smaller in frame these days due to breeding.
I am MAGA.

There are several herds of Longhorns close to me. A neighbor that has some said that his are the best mammas he's ever seen.
Okay Rio, a question........do they normally live that long? My experience with Herefords and Angus has been that about 15 would be pretty much it. Although I usually sell them when they get old, so I've never kept one just to see how long they'd live. Had a horse make to almost 30, and I have an old gelding now that's 25.

I had to shoot a horse that was 30.
Fed him and when I was walking back to the barn, I heard a big crack!, and he fell down. His rear leg high up broke as he turned to go eat.
Just went to the house and got my gun and put him down.
Hate doing that with an animal that has been "family" for so many years.
