Anybody else see this? Four Little Birds and two special ops Blackhawks landed in the middle of the street in LA and a bunch of soldiers ran out from buildings and got in and they took off. Yeah, yeah, training ops with a press release afterwards, but damn. Those Blackhawks didn’t have a lot
of clearance.

Also, apparently that was the Wells Fargo building they were running out of and the next morning Wells Fargo had a system outage across the whole country where even ATMs were mostly shut down because of a “fire”.

If it was training, then it seems unnecessarily risky. A drunken jackass could have thrown a bottle off of a balcony and caused a major accident that would have killed lots of people and half a dozen generals’ careers. That is the kind of thing that could have been done at a mock-up out in the middle of a dry lake somewhere.

If it was something cool it wouldn't be on video.

No, exactly the opposite. You can’t do anything in LA without a million people seeing you. And if you try to limit who sees you, you let the cat out of the bag. The best way to hide something is in plain sight.

We just had half a dozen people at the top of one of our government agencies gin up a soft coup against the president of the United States with the full cooperation and support of the opposition political party, the press, and at least one intelligence agency. All kidding aside, yes I did find that event in LA a bit risky from an ORM perspective and yes, it gave me much pause..

HVT's are typically taken down in some urban environment. Gotta train as you fight.

160th SOAR does training like that in all major CONUS cities. Been going on for over 20 years.

It was 3 nights running. I think last night or the night before they did this in Long Beach. I couldn't come up in my mind where the military would have to pull off this kind of op but here and I really am no conspiracy theorists. Practice like you play sounds a little creepy in this case.

Good to know. But as one who spent thirty years also doing high risk training, I still find it on the edge to train where civilians can get hurt. Then again, we can't just go out and build skyscrapers and other building just for this. SCHITHOT flying for sure..

Don't they have places setup for that type of training? And what was with the refueling probe? I didn't think any Helo's were outfitted with refueling probes except the 160th SOAR group and then only on MH-6 Helo's.

No. Navy/USMC CH-53s have them.

All 160th birds are AAR capable.

As are USAF Pavehawks.
