11 years old on the 2 Odyssey batteries in my diesel Excursion. It's currently -11 here and I'll be starting the Excursion shortly. Not worried at all. You pay a bit more for an Odyssey battery, but you get a whole lot more.

5 years seems to be about max . Although I have had a few that lasted 6 years.I think Advance Auto is the only one that sells a battery with more than 1 year warranty.

Slinger, you got it right with the cold weather. Our son bought the last cold spell three batteries , and where we went they batteries were "flying of the shelves".

My batteries usually average 5 to 6 years. I try to go with a mid range cold cranking amps, battery. They seem to hold up much better and longer than the high amp ones.
I lucked out on the batteries for my diesel pickup last time. I was fixing to pull the camper to Pennsylvania and stopped by a NAPA store for some oil and windshield washer fluid for the trip. Came back outside and the pickup wouldn't start because the batteries were dead. So replaced them right there. Good Lord takes care of us old fools! I can just see the problems I would have encounter if I had pulled off the road in the middle of nowhere to take a leak, and the batteries had died.

Yes, When in a remote area, if I'm not fishing, I'll leave the rig run for ten minutes. No cell phone range.

I don't automatically replace the batteries if there is a failure. First I clean the terminals and rechcek

I seem to get about 7 years on my gas vehicles here but I keep them charged. I carry one of these on my boat, wheelers, and car for emergency they work well. Around $60 at Costco or on line https://www.lifewire.com/best-portable-jump-starters-4140286

The two Factory AC Delco Batteries in my Chevy 2006, 2500HD Diesel lasted about 10.5 years, I suppose a single battery would need to be replaced after about 4 or 5 years, to be on the safe side.
