Has anyone tried the Hawke scopes with the 22 subsonic reticle? I was thinking this would be just the thing for sage rat hunting. Quick ranging and don't have to figure out your drop tables.
Just wondering if they are clear enough and how they work out. All the reviews I've read were pretty good...

Hawke makes good stuff for the $$ and their ballistic reticles seem to be spot on.
Believe the reviews

Bob No. But, I have two Hawke Vantage 4x32s with mil-dot and can't fault the view or function. They were like $60.

Just acquired one of their 3-9x's and it's one of the few that up front claims to be springer air rifle tolerant. Might be useful if one doing a semi-auto installation. I find any sort of reference tics useful. With just a little range work, anything can be dialed in. I'm also fond of the highest reasonable power I can get and believe in parallax adjustments as well.

I have a Hawk scope that's a real POS. And there life time warranty is only if you have the original receipt. Which I can't find so screwed is what I am.

I wasn't aware of that. You may want to reach out to Doug at Cameraland NY. He's a Hawke Dealer, stand-up guy, and has helped member's in similar circumstances over the years

I have four, and so far, so good. They do require you to register for the warranty using a scan of the receipt. For what I paid Doug for these, if someday they all crumble into dust, it wouldn't be a big deal.
None of mine are the rimfire models, but one has the .223/.308 reticle. Etched reticles reduce the light transmission a tiny bit, but the images are all super sharp and clean, even the complex ones.

Another one at a good price level is the Bushnell Trophy XLT 4-12 AO. Paid $130 for mine, but usually they're a bit more. This one's been on an Air King, a .243, and now rides a CZ .22. Adjustments are spot on so far. Not sure if they're still in the line, but they can be found.

Well F'Me on the warranty. I am not sure how I missed that. Have at least 8 of them.

I registered one months after I bought it, and got the confirmation email without issue. The only one that I paid more than $129 for is the 8x56, so no big deal regardless. I expect them to hold up as any others I have, 'cept maybe the SWFA.

Glad this came up. I just refinished my 10/22 and was looking for an inexpensive scope since discovering...I am old now! Wanting to keep costs as low as possible for this rig.
Liking the idea of Hawke Vantage 2-7x32 for I think $90 and their rings at about $20 seem like another good option. Am hearing I should go with a steel Weaver base for this setup. Which?
Am I going wrong anywhere? Suggestions welcomed.

I thought all the Weaver bases are aluminum, which shouldn't be a problem since the 10/22 receiver is also aluminum. However, if you want steel Weaver style bases you should probably look at the Warne units.

Weaver's Grand Slam line of bases are steel.
