Legendary ram hunter, Al Klassen, with a ram from the NWT. I wrote a story called the 25 mile stalk about this hunt, years ago.

December, 1996, Garfield County, Montana. Little did we know, two close friends were killed in a supercub crash that same day, only a few miles from where we were hunting. RIP, George and Charlie....

Another great man, I had the privilege of knowing, and spending time with, George Dieruf, from Bozeman, Montana. George was 77 when he took this ram with his old model 70 .220 swift, in 1985.

My old pal, Dean Carlton, from Iowa City, with a great 6X6 he took with one shot, with his .300 Weatherby. We executed a text book stalk, and he made a perfect shot at about 200 yards. It was his first elk, and I'll never forget the look on his face when we walked up to him. We never said a word. He was a man who really took it all in. He sure loved Montana.... Only a few short years later, Dean died suddenly of a heart attack at 57.

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
Ain’t easy havin pals.

Great pictures but I'm getting a bit depressed ...thinking about the guys who took me hunting when I was growing up, who are no longer with us.

Damn, this is turning into a tribute to all of my pals who have moved on to the happy hunting ground....glad I've always been a camera guy. These photos help keep them close to my heart. My boyhood pal, Howard Wagonhals, with his first buck, taken November 23rd, 1973, in the Bridger Range, just north of Bozeman. We were both 16, and hunting on our own. Howie was killed in a car wreck on November 22, 1979.

Since we are posting up some older pictures here is one of my dad Sig, he passed away a little over 5 years ago. He was my good luck charm when it came to hunting, heck in about everything I suppose. Still miss him everyday.
