Question for those in the know....

S/N 460xxx

Cougar engraved on sideplates

It does NOT say G2 anywhere...........

Any help as whether it is a G1 or 2

Does it seem to have an extra layer of metal near the top back section of the side of the action, near the hammer. If it does it is a G-2.

It is my understanding that the actions with the cougar on the sides are G1's. Is this correct? Are there exceptions? Just wanting to learn more about the differences.

Any Contender without the beefed up area at the top of the action is the 1st generation. If it has the extra metal as does the action in my previous pic, it is a G2

Here is the first gen Contender.

That's not my picture. I borrowed it to show the flat side of the 1st generation Contenders. I have three barrels, but they are all carbines - 30-30, 17 Hornetand a 7.62x39.
