Sadly Yes, should have kept my 6" K-22, young, dumb and traveling a lot, sold it to a Bud, circa late 80's. I remember how beautiful the blue and grips were on that revolver.

Lord in Heaven, don't remember if mine was a dash what, or not, do remember buying it in a pawn shop on Garrison Ave. up in Ft. Smith about 1983, it was a nice revolver.

The finest for me is my old S&W M17 because it's the one I have. I also have a M63 that actually gets more use but I don't think it is as nicely put together as the K frame. Like a dummy I sold a beautiful M18 years back. Definitely wish I had that back. I haven't been around enough Colt rimfire pistols to have an opinion as to how they compare to the S&W guns. The Diamondback has always appealed to me.

In 1980 I bought a new in the box M-18 4" for $185 got a set of smooth Rosewoods on it right now, it's a sweetie. 10 years back I picked up a used a M 17-4 for $325 it also is a great shooter. 2 years back I bought a pre 17 (K-22) made in 57? for $625 nice gun and great shooters every one of them worth x times what I paid for'em and hell yeah they still shoot great even with the hated Thunderbolt ammo.lol MB

Yes, my 17 and it's siblings 48 and 14 are truly prized and are top shooters.
But I use the M63 a lot more. It's my buddy around this place.

Define "fine." Most finely finished? Nothing made after the Second World War can compete for that title. An inter-war Colt Officer's Target or S&W K22 Outdoorsman Target are going to be top contenders.
Most "fine shooting?" A Freedom Arms M83 22lr will put most rifles to shame, as will the FA97 in 22lr.
Most "fine feeling?" Hard to beat a 6" K22 or a 4" Model 18 in DA guns, or an Old Model Single Six or alloy-frame Bearcat in the Single Actions. An early Colt New Frontier 22lr can also be a fine feeling gun if you get one that has not been "gunsmithed" by a previous owner.

I bought an early Ruger Bearcat back in the late 60's and sold it just as fast being too light. Then I bought a S&W M17 6" and sold that off too as being too heavy for just a .22. Bought a S&W M34 4" and that one gets my vote as being the right weight for a .22 with adjustable sights. Mine needed a larger grip and Armaloy plating so it looks like a M63, but is way smoother.
My other auto is a .45

I have three that I think would qualify, A 1916 S&W 22/32 Heavy Frame Target, A 1941 Colt Officers Model Target, and a 1948 S&W K22 Masterpiece. Of the three I shoot the Colt most accurately.

Had a 6" bright nickel Diamond Back in the early 80s that was by far the most accurate .22lr I'd ever owned. Foolish me.....

This one is wickedly accurate. I have had 10-22s that could not shoot as well.

My father had a K-22 Masterpiece that I shot quite a lot when I was a kid. It was the best shooting pistol....bar none....that I've ever fired. I have always been a poor shot with a handgun, mainly because I'd rather shoot a rifle or shotgun than a handgun any day of the week, but I killed a lot of squirrels with that K-22 because it was that accurate. One of my dumbass brothers ended up with it, and I have no idea what he did with it.
