I've met quite a few, as I worked in the movies as an extra. Did a British beer commercial with Rudgard haur (we discussed his work in Lady Hawk, and the crossbow he carried),murder she wrote with Angela Lansbury, (and met the Iron Lady Margaret Thatcher on that set), delivered scripts to many actors as a motorcycle courier, met Jamie Lee Curtis in a toys are us. Bett Midler has more wrinkles without makeup than a paper road map, met alot of guys who's face you'd know, but who's name you likely would not. I was also in the movie "Army of Darkness", and met Bruce Campbell.

Though I’ve never met any celebrities, I’d say the ones that don’t act like are the ones that make the most impression.

I worked with a guy offshore. He was from the Monroe, la parts. Said you’d see Phil and the boys around town. Hardware store. Boot store. Restaurant. They are everyday ppl.

When we had a condo in Vail, we'd run into celebrities fairly regularly. If you visit Aspen, you can hardly not run into one of them. I seldom see them in Breckenridge, Omaha, or points in between.

When I was a kid, I was involved in ski racing at Waterville Valley, NH, a Black and Blue Trail Smasher. The Waterville Valley ski area was owned by Tom Corcoran, who was involved with the Kennedys. Many of the Kennedys skied at Waterville Valley and many of the local girls thought that it was great sport to get screwed by a Kennedy or a Kennedy Cousin. Just being around them and seeing how entitled they acted was enough to cause me to dislike them.

Two you may have heard of in my vet clinic-

astronaut Peggy Whitson (most time in space by any astronaut)-this is her hometown. Peggy's mom served on the school board with me several years ago. Peggy is a cool lady.

Any rodeo fans? A local guy contracts rodeo stock, mainly bucking bulls. Brought a lame bucking bull to my clinic for me to work on. Didn't recognize the fellow with him-until introduced. "Good to meet you sir, my name is Tater Porter."

Really humble, polite young man from Bonifay, FL.

Met Hank Williams Jr when I was a teenager. I was working for my Dad one summer's school vacation, helping build a floating boat dock on Smith Lake in Alabama, on property that happened to be next door to William's. We were busy, he was busy, everybody said hello shook hands, and back to work. Not much to it as "celebrity encounters" go.

Not that I'm aware of. Pam Kelley and Martha Moxley might have skied with them at Waterville Valley, but I don't know if they did and if they did it would have been over 40 years ago. It seems like a lot of people who come into close personal contact with a Kennedy or Kennedy Cousin come out of that contact worse off than they were before they came in to contact with them.

I don't know about the Clintons, but I think that with the Kennedys it might be that they are a large, wealthy, powerful, and well connected family who can and will ruthlessly bend the rules that apply to us commoners if it suits their needs. Michael Skakel will probably get his sentence for killing Martha Moxley overturned and that probably wouldn't happen if he wasn't a Kennedy Cousin.

I shook Kenny Roberts' hand and wished him well. The next day he won the Daytona 200.
Got autographs from Pappy Boyington and Paul Tibbets at the Confederate Air Force air show in Harlingen, Texas.
Talked briefly with Bob Hoover. Helluva guy and very funny.
That's all I've got.
Oh, wait, I saw Dog the Bounty Hunter in Las Vegas last November.

I met Chuck Yeager and three of his squadron-mates from the 357th FG at an airshow in Clarksville, IN one time. All four of them were nice guys, and flew in in Mustangs, like they flew in WWII. It was great. I had Pete Petersen's book with me (Old Crow) and had all four of them sign it (Petersen was a better writer than Yeager, besides being one of Yeager's wingmen).

It wasn’t an accidental encounter, as I was at a concert, The Statler Brothers and the up and coming Barbara Mandrell. After the show, with a nearly empty auditorium, I bought a Statler Brothers album, signed by all. As I was walking back, along the stage floor, there was Barbara, sitting on the edge of the stage, legs dangling over the stage edge....by herself. I spoke to her as I walked past....and to this day, I can’t remember what she said, but it required an answer. So....a brief conversation was started. From behind me, about 10 rows back in the auditorium....someone yelled my name. I wheeled around, and saw an old schoolmate hold up a camera. Barbra, observed this, tapped me on the shoulder, and motioned for me to jump up on the stage and sit beside her. She then kissed me on the cheek, and my friend took a great picture. I think I went a week, before I washed my face! grin memtb

Have seen a few well known musicians (mostly country) up close thanks to a lucky run of ticket purchases and radio contest wins but the only conversation I’ve ever had with anyone famous was Martina McBride in 1996. She played a little amphitheater near us and we got to go backstage for a meet n greet. Super nice and stunningly pretty. Spent about 5min talking with my sister and I. Have been smitten with her ever since.

Ancient history. Ate at a dinner, St Joseph Missouri honoring new Eagle Scouts at the Moila Shriners Temple. Cedric Tallis a manager of the Athletics baseball team was at my table and spoke with me at length. Two seats down , the speaker at the dinner was H. Roe Bartle, former Kansas City mayor. The man didn't need a PA. Ever heard of Bartle Hall in KC? Later in life a retired Sgt Major of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children, W. Dewar was my Sgt and a working friend at a prison in Mo.

Worked in a sporting goods store as a young man.

Sold a bow case to Walter Payton. Short guy with a high voice, like someone kicked him in the nards. Super nice guy though. Pulled 80# like it was nothin.
Had to babysit some sports celebs that came in with company reps. Mostly Olympic ski medalists. Some were crazy, all were nice.
Babysat a few NBA players. Azzholes. Every one.
Met the Suunto compass celeb that won the Iditarod. That was the last we saw of him. He died. Seems he got lost. Seriously.

I've met most of the pro golfers on the top 50 all-time money winner list. Most of the golf commentators too. Jack is building a course in my town now.

Pee'd next to Van Johnson at the Grand Hotel. Told him I thought he was great in Battleground - looking straight ahead of course.
Had lunch with Jerry Orbach in Palm Springs. Don't remember why he was at our table.
Huey Lewis and his band played for us at a corporate function and hung out afterwards. Cool dude. Same with Aaron Neville.
Shook Gerald Ford's hand when he was a sitting President.
Wife babysat Tommy Hilfiger's kids. He was very generous. And short. Like oddly short.

I actually was security of sorts for Roy Clark. Yes, that Roy Clark...before he died so many times. He came in with 2 Town Cars and each trunk had a washtub of Miller Lite in them. Of which, he offered me one. Good fella.

Mom dragged dad to downtown Chitcago to shop. Dad saw a celeb coming down the escalator at WaterTower Place.
Dad: I saw that faag piano player in Chicago. I was this close to him.
ME: Liberace?
Dad: No, the other one.
ME: Elton John?
Dad: That the faag from England?
ME: Yup, that's the one.

Back in 89 or 90 I went with a buddy to look at a used VW bug. He ended up buying the car from a scrawny hippy looking guy.
A couple years later while cleaning out the car to sell he looked at the bill of sale and noticed the name. Kurt Cobain.
He wasn't the big star yet and didn't appear strung out, just a poor kid trying to make music.

I've met quite a few "celebrities" while working at a local sporting goods store. The most famous though was a guy who goes by big stick.
He was a nice guy, and I even sold him a rifle.

When he came back I paid for his next drink, and sat there for hours listing to him.
