Went in the kitchen this morning to get my 2nd cup of coffee. Wife was chopping celery and had the potatoes cooked and sliced. I can eat a ton of her tater salad. I know some of the ingredients are taters, celery, boiled eggs, hot pickles and mayo. Not sure what spices she uses. I have her add no onions as I don't like onion salad. Any tater salad masters out there?

(Green) Onions, yes - pickles, no.
Mustard and a dash of Worchestershire in the Miraculous Whop.
Salt and pepper a necessity, paprika sprinkled on top.

I like an extra egg or two and my wife puts yellow mustard in with the mayonnaise. She refuses to salt anything so I have to add a big dash of salt and black pepper to my potato salad. Absolutely no pickles or pickle relish.

There are at least 400 kinds - have you really tried them all?

I like the other type. Potatoes, onions, vinegar, sugar, oil, salt, pepper and crumbled bacon if you have it. More of a summer thing for me.

There is what is called, Irish potato salad. Spuds, half sour cream, half mayo, or what you like, cut up green onions.

that is sorta what i have come to call German potato salad. it's good.

for me, traditionally it has to have eggs, mayo, mustard, and must have relish or chopped pickles. the chopped pickles are better than relish.

for the eye, some paprika on top helps, but not required.

From the region of Germany. My Croatian grandmother used to make it. Ate in a good, authentic German restaurant in Springfield MO of all places and the exact same potato salad was served. No bacon though. A cousin with German influence on her father's side makes a great hot potato salad - with bacon. My dad made the mayo kind and I have to disagree. No pickles and paprika is a must.

Green onions, hand chopped pickles, hard boiled eggs, mayo, mustard, spicy sliced green olives, salt and pepper. Love the leftovers as breakfast.

Yes......pickles, onions, mustard, salad dressing, salt and pepper to taste, and of course potatoes. Simple.
