I told the owner of the outfit I hunted with a few times that I wanted to tip his staff the max amount, then left it up to him to tell me how much that was, and how it was to be divided. Went off without a hitch.

$75 per day per hunter for the PH’s (assuming a job well done) would be perfect. $5-10 per day for staff per each person on the hunt. I gave the tracker $75, a nice camo hat and a 30oz Yeti cup and the skinners $10 per animal harvested. Everyone seemed happy.

I ask the outfitter how much to tip, It was much less then what Africahunting.com suggested. Of course, the outfit that I hunted with mainly catered to EU clients and they generaly don't tip. The said pay the PH and Chef in USD and the rest of the staff in Rand.

Typically what I tell clients that ask when we go is 10-15% to the PH and $500-750 to the rest of the staff given to the owner to distribute as they see fit. Most companies wait till the end of season to distribute the staff there tips so they don't disappear. Always cash anything extra is just extra doesn't count as part of the tip. Once I did have a young PH I have hunted with several times that's is very good gave him the option of cash or my Swarovski Binos he had some junkers so he took the Binos. That's a rare case these guys do this to put food on the table and they make little per day as a PH so tips for a good job is a must.
