About to load up some GMX. Anybody know what Hornady recommends for a seating depth? How far off the lands?

I don't know what Hornady recommends, but I would (do) treat them like Barnes TSXs. Keep them at least 50/1,000 off the lands.

Load at -.040, -.080, and -.120 and see how they do. I tried this w my ‘06 and 150’s. The clear winner was -.120.”

Wow, 1/8” jump? That’s almost shocking.

Using any of the Monos, .050 off is as good a place as any to start. I have solved more than fifty rifles for monos, and have learned that I pick a place to start, work 'em up to pressure and if they are not shooting into an inch I move up to .005/.010 off and just start working back in .010 increments. A not inconsequential number will shoot very well up close to the lands. Some need to be a long way off. The only way to be certain is to be methodical. A lot of people are happy with what they get out of the gate at .050 off, but that is a long way from being the best for a given rifle. I have also seen rifles that were hyper critical for seating depth and .005 +/- made an 8 inch difference in group size.

With Barnes, have yet to deviate from the recommended 0.05. Works well.
