In fact, if not for Trump, I seriously doubt that the GOP would have won the 2016 election.

I guess I fall on the side of let the dead remain, even if they were wrong. I respect McCain’s military service, although he was a major disappointment as a US Senator. Hitler is dead, and had a very distinguished military career. Doesn't make him any less of a POS. +1 . . . objective analogy

Not talking poorly of the dead has always seemed to be steeped in superstition and fear. Perhaps if they had lived better, people would be less inclined to speak ill of them after they died. I didn't make John McCain a self-serving azzhole and I don't feel guilty for pointing out that he was.
