Haha!
My folks go there sometimes.
Neat place. My great grandfather was abandoned there. Lived in the hotel and worked on area ranches.
His name is in the guest book.
I am MAGA.

Just to trigger Paul....... Grilled bacon-wrapped scallops. Garden salad. I've never had scallops so I bought a bag of frozen. (puke) From what I've read, everyone says to fry them in butter and garlic but I'm curious, as we are nearing grilling season, if this would be the way to go for my first time? What say you?

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

Let them thaw to soften. Lightly season and brush w butter. They cook real fast so about three min one one side and two on the other. That’s what I’ve done in the past w those about size of silver dollar. You’ll w ant to have all ready to go so you can serve right off the grill. Darn things will make a rabbit hug a hound.

If putting a scorch on them in CI, I use salt and pepper grinders, and granulated garlic. Have the CI medium hot with some butter melted. A couple minutes per side is plenty. Ill set the scallops in a wide ring and shrink it when I flip them. Use tongs. They can be eaten raw, so if you err, do so on the undercooked side.

Best served cold, raw, and right off of the boat!

Don't get the ones treated with trisodium phosphate. They don't cook right and don't taste as good.

Could not get at pics for some reason on my tablet yesterday. Our scallops are frozen. Nothing wrong with that. As mentioned, avoid the sodium phosphate (wet variety) if you can. The 'dry' (untreated scallops) are preferred. Grilled an bacon wrapped. Use the pre-cooked bacon otherwise tha scallops are wristrocket ammoby the time the bacon is cooked. Used a smaller CI here to keep them over the heat. Sometimes I use a biggerCI. And sometimes I de-glaze the pan w/ white wine and the scallop juice (left in bag after defrosting) About the only wrong way is to overcook.

We had my cabbage salad from the cole slaw thread, "stove-baked beans", beer-battered cod and shrimp from SeaPak done in the hair friar, and Kraft Mac and Cheese. Very unsophisticated, but all things that I really like.
