gnoahhh,
Around San Antonio the WWII & earlier 1911 pistols seem to fall into 2 categories: AS NEW (VERY high priced) & WORN-OUT JUNK.
YEP, times have changed.

This.... G21s and 30s are the best bang for the buck. Agreed.

I have one of the trade-in 21s. Not a bad gun in the Gen 3 SF version. Thanks gunner500. A good idea for a solid gun. Was trying to think of a certain brand. I think they came out with carbines in the same calibers that use the same magazine. It just came up in a conversation and I had Oldtimers' disease. Rusty Doesn't hurt that the Glock mags are universal across caliber, either. I've got a 41, 21, and 30S and appreciate that fact greatly.

rustyzipper,
I would try and find a Smith and Wesson Shield.
They are very inexpensive and easily concealed. I shoot them very well.
Good luck in this endeavor.
Travis Try one of these and also try the xds 45. I swear the xds recoils (felt) no more than a 9mm compact.

I carried an old Gen1 back in the day, didn't shoot it much, but it never failed, this Gen4 I got new from CHLI has had the chit shot out of it, it has never once thought about a FTF, FTE, were I in need for a used/beater 45 ACP, I'd go Glock without any hesitation.

Do you want cheap or reliable? Both, and home delivery by a Victoria's Secret model. When you find that, let me know

Fwiw,
PALMETTO STATE ARMORY is temporarily "out of stock" on the ATI Government model "clone" at 299.95 plus 17.oo S&H. (Fwiw, I'm buying the next one that they get & offer for sale, as I recently got to shoot one extensively & was IMPRESSED, as it looked/handled/shot just like, other than the slide markings, the old-school REMINGTON RAND 1911A1 that I last was issued on AD.)
yours, tex

29 comments. Deflave if I could read your comments I'll guess your advice was golden. But I never once said I want to buy one. Go kill some lizards. To the rest of you guys, thanks for the information. I can see some thought and time went into your comments. They are right on the money. Rusty

Find a police trade-in H&K USP 45 on Gunbroker. Indestructible and capable of launching 45 Super.

I've never seen a Hi Point not work. And I've seen a bunch of them run hard.
They are a "blow back" action. Very heavy and clunky, but they always run.

i guess i need to throw my 2cents in. many years ago, i took a pile of ammo to the shooting spot, and a norinco 1911, a 2k tricked out gold cup, a series 80 colt, and a 43 remington rand and had two or three shoot all of them with the same ammo. at ten yards, i couldn't tell much difference in what they were getting. 1911's and 45acp was never meant originally to be mesquito flicking long range target handguns. That they worked in adverse conditions was valued. Everything i read about those armscor phillipine guns seems to be good. maybe the current version of the old norinco that i paid about 1 9 0 bucks for.

I'd try to find a deal; on a Ruger P90. Beat me to it. Built like a brick chit house, and looks like one to. I've ran 1000's of rounds through mine.
