For those that don't know, Pam and I are now grandparents.

Beautiful baby girl born last Thursday before midnight.

This would be Nathan's Daughter, Nate (runs with scissors) is our oldest boy.

We are expecting a grandson with our daughter Taylor in July.

Big Chicken, possibly !

The breading is corn flake crumbs, so it's golden already.

Used peanut oil (higher smoke point) & did get into the mid 400's for a bit !

Did not taste burnt in the slightest, though.

I like to double bread my walleye. fillets get cut into smaller pieces, soak in milk for a little bit and then into shorelunch. then dipped into whipped eggs and rolled in crumbled club crackers and lightly fry in vegetable or canola oil. golden brown flaky crust that is delicious. got the recipe from an old game wardens cookbook. sometimes I'll flavor with lemon pepper or go with a flavored shorelunch if I'm feeling Zany.

it's delicious, everyone that's had it has told me it's the best they've ever had. I've tried many different recipes and none come close in my opinion. I gave up on other stuff because this is just plain delicious.

I have been checking in here daily for quite a while now & always hoping to see what might be new. Dave's latest announcement (congrats again) is hard to beat.
I did have a thought recently. With your creative mind & ability to make stuff, any ideas whirling around in your head about making something for the grandchild? Like a swing from old car parts or maybe just a mobile thingy made from fishing lures (no hooks) deer antler and Ford emblems ? I am sure you have lots of extra time right?
Sorry, just random thoughts from a bored old guy...

For the rest of you, another random thought.

Have you found anything interesting inside the fish you have cleaned over the years? My kids always asked what was "inside" usually just minnows & crayfish but sometimes a surprise. One lake trout through the ice had 3 sets of treble hooks lodged in his mouth & gullet. They all came from the same tip up over about a 2 hour period. He kept coming back to that same spot and breaking off somehow. Don't think he could have possibly swallowed anything with all that hardware in his mouth. go figure.

Then there was this eating size pike.

Wow Jim that’s cool.

I caught a few walleyes on Green Bat that I kept one day. One was a 19” walleye with a 9” perch inside of it. The other was a 23” walleye with an 11” perch in it. And the still ate!! Much like your piker there.
