I was at Dachau in 66 and again in 2000. They have toned down the displays considerably over the years. I expect we will live to see all records of the camps removed as Europe moves further into the Muslim/socialist revisionist history trend.

+1 !!!

We visited the holocaust museum in DC.

That was a sobering enough experience for our family.

The kids were both teenagers & both cried for a solid hour afterwards !

Matters not the circumstances but I decided about 50 years ago that I would never accept being a prisoner. Nowhere, no how.

Castle ruins, Hochburg, Germany. Hoch means "high" and burg means "castle." Standing before the place where the hearth was in the lord's living area, the imagination can run pretty wild.

Riding down south on 118 around Terlingua? Memory fails me...but that reminds me of Terlingua and the Chisos.

Between Ft Worth & El Paso I didn't see anything similar to this.

From L R, Ar. to Midland Tx is 12 long hours in an auto. Past Ft Wt there is a lot of sand & tumbleweeds.

OTOH on I 40 across the panhandle and OTHER parts of Tx, there ARE some gorgeous scenes.

Thnx

Jerry

10/4

I was on a 5 day ride with about 24 other guys. IIRC we went from Alpine to Marfa on Hwy 90, then down 67 to Presidio, then along SH 170 and the border to Lajitas, then Terlingua. We stayed at a Motel in Terlingua for two nights and toured both Big Bend Ranch State Park and Big Bend National Park. When we left the Park myself and three other guys separated from the pack. We cut over to SH 385 and went up to Hwy 90, then down 90 to Comstock IIRC. Then up SH 164 to Juno, then hopped on 189 to and then took 277 up to Sonora, then IH-10 to Kerrville where we met up with the rest of our buds. Stayed the night in Kerrville. Next day it was Kerrville to Boerne down IH-10, then cut over on SH 46 to New Braunsfels, then down 46 to SH 90, and took US 90 all the way into Houston. I'm not an Iron-butt, and those two days were something for this wuss! I had all the riding I wanted for a spell.

ya!

West Texas and the Big Bend area have a harsh beauty.

I'd post pix, but that was 2010 and I have had several hard drive crashes since then. Only pix I have of hundreds I took on the trip are 4 or 5 I saved to Photobucket.

Bummer.
