Hello CBinNH.
Is this rifle drilled and tapped for a scope mount? Not sure on the age so thought I better ask.
Also not sure from the camera angel but is the wrist or grip area cracked?

Should be factory drilled & tapped.I have an identical 336 A and IMO it handles and feels way better than my 336C.Very accurate also.

This rifle is a 1978 model that is factory drilled & tapped. No cracks I can see in the grip area.
