[/URL] I had one of those Old Timer Sharpfingers....but it is somewhere along a trail in the middle of the Frank Church Wilderness and has been for several years. For a mass produced, cheap knife, it held an edge pretty damn good. I could skin and break down an entire elk without touching it up. I have two, only because the original went missing for a short spell. Slice'n dicer they are.
I am..........disturbed.

Dunno if any of you gents have used a seat belt cutter for opening up hide for any reason, but I find them remarkably useful....and fast.

Nonsense! Nothing's too sharp for caping.😀
Well, that's because you're better than me. I've punctured several capes just in front of the hinds and and around the anus where the skin gets thin, and up high on the neck. I like a reasonably sharp blade with a semi-skinner profile ya! GWB

Dan, I can see where that would be handy!

An unemployed Jester, is nobody's Fool.
the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.

I like a reasonably sharp blade with a semi-skinner profile ya! GWB I see what you're getting at, but puncturing capes isn't a huge deal, with reason. A duller knife could prevent some of that, but then you'd be dealing with...a dull knife. You sure do have some nice knives....but I'd of lost half of them. There's been a family heirloom Ruana laying somewhere in the vicinity of where this bull fell since Oct 9, 2015. Never could find it Another heirloom German made custom knife has been somewhere in the Devil's Playground Wilderness Study Area in Wyoming since October 8, 2012: And several high(er) dollar knives scattered throughout the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness, including a Menefee somewhere on the mountain that this deer fell. Makes me sad just thinking about it.....
