Is that your list or something you found? What were the criteria used to establish 'the best'?

This.
While "affordable" .22's definitely have their place in this man's world, at some point an inquisitive guy needs to explore the boundaries of accuracy with the .22 cartridge. You won't generally do that with cheap rifle (although a heckuva lot of them will astonish you) so at that point you start saving your nickels, like I did.

For right now I can still miss with the cheap one I have.😉 Any 1 on your list would work for me.

I have been fortunate to own a Winchester 52 preA Custom Sporter, a Springfield 1922M2 Custom Sporter which are my current favorites. Honorable mention to Anschutz 54 Stutzen Mannlicher w/DST, BRNO M/1 and Steyr Zephyr Mannlicher w/DST.

My CZ model 452 will hand tough with almost anything previously mentioned. Doesn't mind what I feed it either. Did I mention affordable?

I've owned a few nice.22 rifles, in order of purchase...10 to be exact dating back to 1969, so here is my list of what I think are some of the best made:
Browning1969 T-bolt T-2 Deluxe...very pretty but did not deliver the accuracy I wanted. Winchester 52E, heavy target barrel Winchester 52A, light target barrel Browning .22 Auto Winchester M75, target barrel Remington 541S...extremely accurate sporter....wish I'd kept it. Cooper 57-M Classic, still own it....a very accurate and beautiful sporter. CZ 455 American...very pretty and accurate, the .17 HMR barrel isn't as accurate as the .22 LR barrel, still own it. Ruger 10-22 Sporter with a Shilen barrel and Timney trigger...has extremely pretty wood, still own it. Winchester 69A....shoots way better than it looks and still own it.

I don’t have any first hand experience with the target rifles but my Remington 580 (first rifle that was given to me for my 8th birthday) is plenty accurate. Just put a Leupold 4x on it and am loving it all over again. I also scored a Remington 24 for $50 back in 2008 that is hell on little rimfire steel pigs offhand at 100 yards.
I’d love to get my hands on an old lever Marlin and or Winny.

Uncle Dave Ramsey would not approve. Looks like I’m stuck here daydreaming about guns with you dingleberries for the next couple years until I can buy anymore guns. It’s a good thing I amassed my gun collection when I did.

Big differences between "Best" and "Iconic".
Best has levels of it's own. Best selling? Best accuracy? Best for a given discipline/competition?
Rem 40X Rem 541S/T and 580/581/582 (Essentially all the same bbl'd action) Win 52 Win 75 Win 61/62/63 takedowns Marlin 39 Ruger 10/22 Marlin 60 Rem Nylon 66 Anschutz
I can walk on water.......................but I do stagger a bit on alcohol.

All of us have to at least admit that the best selling and popular rifles like the Win 90-06-62 Marlin 39 Win 94-22 Ruger 77-22 and 10-22 Were, and still are, great 22's
They may not be Anchutz 54's Win M52's Rem 40 X's Or Bleikers
But they have certainly earned a place in many serious collections
