Is there a better deal out there for the money than the Vortex Viper HD for $350? I'm on the search for a 10x42 bino. I've only owned some bushnell legend in the past

There's LOTS out there better than the Vortex. We have offerings from Steiner, Meopta, Hawke, etc. I am back in the store tomorrow morning around 8 and would be glad to discuss options with you

I've read good things on the Meopta and Mavin...the Meopro being a bit above the price of the vortex and the C1 being a tad cheaper.

It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

How is the overall build quality? Actually it is excellent. Won a few "best in class" in many reviews

I am very surprised, and actually impressed with the Midas, especially since it's made in China. Build is on par with Leupold BX4, so are optics. It is superior to the Viper HD IMO, with a wider FOV. I cannot believe a guy can have this quality of optic for a touch over $200.

JGRaider, how would do the Athlon Midas 10x42 compare build quality and optical clarity wise to the Tract Toric 10x42?

Since I consider the Toric to be one of the best binos out there up to $1500 or so, honestly it's a step up no doubt from the Midas in most every way, except the Midas has better eyecups (more stable if that makes sense). They aren't $500 better than the Midas though, according to my eyeballs.

Has anyone tried the Nikon Monarch 5 version? They are the same price point of the Athlon Midas (299ish). I wear eyeglasses so the eye relief of the Monarch 5 series may be a better fit, but I'm intrigued by the Midas series as well. Meoptas are at a higher price point or am I looking at the right series?
