I have owned German Shepherds, Rottweilers and never an issue with any of them. I have been bitten once and it was by a Brittany Spaniel of all things.

So Pit's are okay based on your experiences?

Watch the video I posted and let us know if that changes your perspective.

All I said was that I have never had a Pitt attack me and the only incident I know of is the one i explained above. Change my perspective? Did I ever say I owned one or contemplated owning one?

I misinterpreted your post, sorry.

Ribka, the one i kicked off my bird dog took off after her as she hauled ass for home down that alley bordered on one side by a cow pasture. I jumped in my truck, turned around at a t road and gave chase.

Mexican dog owner was chasing killer down the alley. He pulled over as i drove by as he ran along silently chasing his dog. I got caught up to near his dog and hit the horn twice. Killer looked back at me and grinned as he continued on his destiny with death. I never slowed down and as my front driver side bumper hit his stubby tail he made his second and last mistake as he must have dodged to the right toward the other tire track where he could keep his speed.

His speed wasnt speedy enough.

I guess he was tough as he only let out a tiny cry as 4WD Z71 GMC passed over him. It sounded like when i inadvertently run over old dead mesquite stumps hidden by high praire grass. The truck kind of lurched two or three times as i heard the sound of a body rumbling back and under the truck as it lifted the skid plate a bit and then encountered the transmission and finally the rear gear box and axle.

I never looked back.

Neighbors down the road just adopted a pit that was abused. Pardon me, Staffordshire Terrier. They were bred to be nanny dogs to children don’t ya know. Lol.

They’re good people but are none too bright about some things. They at least keep it leashed all the time.

I smile and wave and even pet the dog when it’s around.

That’s what happens when you’re on the menu. You better get mean if you don’t wanna get eaten. Lol.

Kids bite. Cats bite. Dogs bite. Horses bite.

Pits crush.

What they don’t tell you in all of that is, being as potentially lethal as they are, any pit bull that showed any aggression towards humans, even just growling or barking, was culled (killed) to maintain the breed standard. Happened every single generation

A practical aspect of this policy was that in a staged match in the pit, a handler had to be able to reach in and separate the dogs if necessary without the dogs biting him

Nowadays a lot of pit bull owners ENCOURAGE their pits to be mean, and even without that nobody culls for behavior any more, haven’t for generations.

That is very interesting. I didn't know about that.

Ribka. Sorry for your troubles- I assume your dog is going to be OK?

It was a border collie, so you survived.

I have been bitten many times, out here in cow country. Every time was by a heeler. Sneaky little bastards come up behind and silently nip at your ankles. They hurt, but never had one break the skin.

Pits roaming loose have a very short life expectancy around here.

I'm always amazed when folks want to give the government the power to ban someone else's dog breed. Two things generally happen when you give government folks power:
1. They screw it up (who decides what's a pitbull and what isn't? What about a pit/lab mix? What about other breeds that kinda sorta look like pits? What if the knucklehead bureaucrat in charge thinks your dog look like a pit?)
2.They grow their power. Pitbulls today, Rotts, Dobermanns, German Shepherds tomorrow. Then it's hunting dogs (because hunting is evil). Then it's all pet dogs (because owning animals is immoral).
Every problem doesn't require legislation to solve. More often than not, the legislation just creates new problems.

Well then, how about the power for us to take them out on sight?

More winning:

I had my truck windows down on the way to work this AM and had noticed a dead animal smell and some buzzards along one particular stretch of road. This afternoon, I decided to slow down and take a look while still inside my truck just out of curiosity. I figured it was a deer. Low and behold, it was TWO pit bulls !! They had been there a couple days at least. Whew!!

That’s too bad.
