Dunno what was worse today - my photo taking, or my shooting. Anyway, let's give 'er a shot. After getting on paper at 25 yards, then working toward a zero at 100 yards, I moved on to this paper. There's a an empty 1" circle in the middle, and that's what I was attempting to fill with my (conveniently enough) 1 MOA dot on the scope. 6x, not illuminated: And 6x, illuminated: I was pleasantly surprised that the #10 setting yielded enough illumination to see the dot even against the orange background. For comparison, here's 4x, not illuminated: And 4x, illuminated: I know these have been crappy, and the next couple are worse. For what it's worth, here's the Conquest 4x: And the Viper: (cont.) FC

For giggles, I put the dot on a clay bird parked on the 200 yard berm. I didn't bother illuminating an orange clay bird. Here's 6x: And 4x: And here's me trying to shoot the box. Not my best work, but I'm putting it out there for your consideration: As I mentioned, I got on paper first at 25 with 2 rounds, then spent another 5 getting a zero at 100. Shot #8 was at the bullseye - the empty space in the middle. I then gave 8 clicks left and 8 clicks up (1/2 MOA) for #9, 16 clicks right for #10, 16 clicks down for #11, and 16 clicks for #12. Ideally, 8 clicks up and 8 clicks right should have parked #13 right on top of #8... To check my marksmanship, I shot 14 and 15 with no adjustments. With #13, those 3 yielded a way bigger group than I shoot with this load and the Vortex. Of course, I'm also usually shooting at dots, instead of this target. I gave 2 clicks up and shot 16 and 17 - not great. I'm not sure I can lay a lot of this on the scope, much as I'd like to. For all that, what I learned is I think I'll be able to hunt the hell outa this scope. Maybe I'll also be able to shoot targets with it, but today sure as hell wasn't my day. Maybe I'll try it again using dots. Or maybe I won't worry about it. I aint gonna dump the scope - I'm just gonna shoot hog heads with it. FC

I did an unscientific last light test with mine tonight 30 minutes after sunset and the sharpness and brightness were excellent. I scoped some cattle at 350 yards and could hold on the target area just fine. To the range this weekend as soon as I figure out which rifle!

OK, so which is better.............this or the Hawke WA30 Endurance? (I have not looked through any Burris offshore scopes, or any Hawke). The report of tunnel vision at low power has me wondering.
Not the most picky person, but do get bent on some stuff LOL
Been unimpressed w last two Leupold "Freedom" purchases. Ordered them sight unseen.
So folks posting real world reviews.............here................can save me some headache. Good stuff so far.
Anybody get a pic of it at 1.5X, or comment further on the "tunnel vision:?
There are several brands of scopes with this illumination, power range and they look very similar. Wondering if they exhibit the same optical characteristics.

I've got a Hawke, and I have one of these Burris. It's pretty much a wash to my eyes.Reticles are different,Burris with a dot and Hawke with a crosshair.... As for the tunnel vision, the Hawke has a little throughout the mag range. The Burris is better from 3x and up.But it's pretty pronounced at 1.5x.Almost like a WTF?

Just ordered one with intentions of going on a Ruger Ranch in 556. Should make a great combo.

Love my MTAC 1.5-6x42. Even when the battery is T.U., the reticle is still there. That's the best part about it. Worn on top of a 16" AR in 5.56.

Got mine in and wanted to echo everyone’s thoughts on these.
Great buy at $260
Not a lightweight scope but doesn’t feel like a pig either Adjustments have clicks you can hear and feel, once sighted in you can reset the turrets to ‘zero’ Reticle is great To my eyes optic quality similar to VX2 or VX3, need more than just one afternoon to tell Flip up caps are a nice bonus
Only negative is noticeable tunnel vision bellow 3x. Not a deal breaker for me.

The Hawke Endurance 30 is a great scope in the deep woods. The illuminated cross hair kinda floats. But weight wise, it is a pig. So much so that in a couple of years I'll replace it with a 1" scope without the illumination. That AR15 in 450 Bushmaster needs a serious diet cause I'm not getting any younger. Dan

Does anyone know if this scope has enough tube length to normally set up on a standard long action model 70 winchester? Wondering how this might work out on a 30-06 for elk hunting.. Les

The tube is only 5" long. If I were putting it on a long action I'd mount it to a pic rail and have some options on where it fits, front to rear.

I have one on a long action Model 70. I used a Nikon branded Weaver style two piece bases. The front base is extended , you can either put one of the cross slots in front or behind the screws, it also has a cross slot between the screws. It worked perfect for me.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.
