As an outdoorsman I am leaning towards New Mexico or Wyoming? Any thoughts?

I live in Northern CO. The political climate of this state is bordering on ridiculous to say the least! I have run the idea past my wife a few times, getting shot down every time, of moving just a few miles north to Cheyenne. It would only be a 40 minute commute for me to work, but with her already commuting to the north Denver area it doesn't make sense right now. If she found a job in the Ft. Collins/Loveland area, my house would be for sale tomorrow!

I too am thinking about Northern New Mexico.

It sure as hell won't be MN.

Of the two you listed, I'd pick WY.

If you'll be living on a reduced income, a state with income tax but no sales tax will save you money. That, or live in a state with no income tax but right on the border of a state with no sales tax. My SIL lives in Vancouver, WA. She pays no state income tax then does all of her shopping across the bridge in Portland. So, she pays only federal income tax. Of course both Vancouver and Portland have other problems so I wouldn't live in either state.

Nealglen37: As an "outdoorsman" the answer to your often asked question is Montana.

I'm thinking about living in the desert areas of NM or WY. I can tromp around in the desert in the winter, then drive 20 miles and be in the high country in the summertime. I like to get outside and amp, fish, hunt whenever possible.

Michigan, to be more precise, Drummond Island.

Although Kentucky wouldn't be bad. I could by that place next to Bristoe and he could finally skinny dip in the pond.....

Western slope of Colorado. Much better weather than WY-----wind blows to much for me & it's damn cold in the winter. NM---never saw or experienced anything there that appeals to me---not much on the Spanish/Native American culture.

Colorado is lost. They are changing red flag laws and more restrictive gun laws. Now we can get high off mushrooms too. Bloomberg is destroying the state.

Actually, Tennessee does have a small, but thriving elk population.
