Ignoring price, would you go Glock or Sig?

I chose the Sig. Specifically the P320-M17 Bravo. (all Black instead of the FDE)

Experience with Glock: Owned a 2nd Gen 20. Currently own a 20SF. Shot a friends 21, 19, and 34
Sig: Have owned P220, P226. Currently own the P320-M17 , P365

I would do a side by side comparison at the range.

Hands down, as I already made this choice when I owned both. The Glock 17. Much lower bore axis, so the recoil impulse is straight back, which to me feels much better. YMMV.

It’s also a more proven design.

Glocks I've had: G22; G36; G26
Glocks I have currently: G19 (my daily carry); G43; G35; two G34's

Sig's I have: 238; 938; 229; P320 X-Five - This is my Carry Optics gun in USPSA

As you can see, I'm not afraid of Glocks, but at this point, I would be looking hard at the full-size p320. I REALLY like my X-Five.

Basically, they're both great guns and deserve a look. Boils down to which one YOU prefer and shoot best. I don't think you'd go wrong with either. Shoot them first before you buy if you can.

Did that. Hated the recoil impulse of the Sig, after years with the Glock. More of a flip than a push.

Which trigger did you prefer?

I think the Sig trigger is technically superior, but since I’m accustomed to the Glock trigger, I prefer it at this point.

Also, the Sig fits the hand better, but after years with the Glock it feels just right in my hand at this point. Someone unfamiliar with both would likely choose the Sig based solely on feel in the hand. In my opinion that should be a very low priority in choosing a handgun, however.

The triggers on a sampling of the 320s have more variation in the group.
A personal carry of mine also has trigger "slap" (as in AK 47). Haven't shot enough 320 XL to see if this solves the problem

Even if a Gray trigger solves the problem its another $100 out. Impulse is definitely a flip.

The feeling of the gun going into lock up is not consistent, even though the gun still fires.

Using a thumbs forward type grip, I had to "thin" down the slide release so as not to hit it with the left thumb.

if you go the thumb safety route Sig, it is poorly located and obstructs the slide release.

i finally broke down and bought a sig m17-320 a while back. I own a bunch of glocks. and i have shot them for years.
i find the sig a better gun.
Breaks down better vs. the glock system.
I LIKE the on/off switch on the slide,
I Like the forward serrations on the slide
I like the idea of it's magazine capacity
Fits the hand better to me.
Comes with better sights
it's modular, meaning the serial number fire control group is the weapon, about everything else is interchangable.

According to the military test in handgun selection-- the position of the external safety was not a problem

Did you follow the controversy about the contract award?

maybe the maker and model were selected before the "test?"

if your a 1911 thumb safety user, you might not like it is all Im saying.

The sig nite sights are "outa sight"


also have the compact in 357 sig --- gets 1400 fps with 125s (keeping this one)


Im sure it will be the 6.5 of the EDC/MOS group, maybe it should who knows.

I've noticed what seems to be a surprising number of 320s with less than a box of ammo (claimed) through them for sale on the local web board. I don't have a good idea what the deal is or if it even is really significant.

As an aside the other notable above-how-many-you-think-would-be-out-there for sale guns are "customized" glocks at twice the price of a stock version FWIW.

Glocks probably just because of how long they've been around and they are a favorite of gamers to modifiy


320s had a significant failure occur and the factory recalled a bunch, but current releases have the new trigger in them. If you check their website it will give you a page so you can put your serial # in and send it back for the update.

Thanks for all responses. With Washington's 1639 law going into effect the end of June, I wanted another 9mm. I have a Glock 19 and three other 9mm platforms. After weighing comments hereon, I went with a sig 320. I went with the 320-m17.

I have one of those as well, and have verified the same ballistics with the factory Sig ammo. It's not my favorite pistol, but is a decent shooter. It feels good in my hand, but is a bit snappier than my Glock 357 Sig with the same ammo.

My biggest complaint with the 320 (and the 365 and most other Sigs) is the stupid "combat hold" that Sig sets their sights for. That means I'll be replacing the sights on any Sig, same as a Glock except they cost quite a bit more.

At the end of the day, both the 320 and the various Glock models all work well and it just comes down to personal preference. Good thing we have choices like this to pick what we each want (for now!); we could be stuck in some combloc dump with the choice of a black market Makarov or Tokarev.

Hey Lennie, I'm in WA too and have been considering another purchase for the same reasons. If you get interested in a 320 in 357 sig, hit me up, I'd trade for something. Mine is milled for an RMR.

be sure and look at the sig promo page. you can fill out some stuff, and they will send you two free 21round magazines. if you can get them in your state. palmetto armory had them as a special a week or so ago for 30bucks a piece.
