Gents, I'm considering selling my Ithaca rifle chambered in .308. Action is marked LSA-55. Made by Tikka. Bofors steel barrel. Very good condition. I bought it from a shop on consignment and it was marked as never fired. I've never shot it but still couldn't definitively say it's unfired. This one is not the deluxe model but still very nice. Open sights and D&T'd but appears to never have had anything mounted on it.

I'm on the fence on this so I'm just looking for some input on possible value. I'll try to get some pics up later today.

Here are some very high resolution pics. It's really, really nice except for a couple of areas: The screws on the buttplate and a small area on the front sight/barrel tip. I took closeup pics which really emphasize it, but they don't exactly stand out.

I'd be interested in buying that one if you decide to sell it SP. The non -deluxe's go from $425-$475 on Gunbroker for what that's worth.

Thanks, JG, I haven't researched them on Gunbroker. Figured they would go for a bit more than that, but the market can be a funny thing.

The market certainly has changed in some respects, but if you think about it, bargain rifles have been with us since the 50s, 722s, Savage 110s and 340s, followed by Mossberg's various attempts, 600s, 788s, and 670s. All of them were priced from just under $100 to a bit over, and a lot incorporated plastic parts, sintered metal etc. They mostly had birch stocks, but plastic stocks were still a tough sell. Some of them are almost cult objects now like the 788s, but I'd take an American over most of them, make that all of them, for actual use, though I've yet to go there. Those old bargain guns cost close to a week's pay in their day. A week's pay now will get you a much better rifle, I believe, based on wages at my old company.

That's a nice, solid rifle. The difference between that bolt and an older Sako ain't much. The market is the market, but anyone that gets that for under $500 has made a good score.

Good thing I don't need any more rifles!
