Just bought one in a package deal with the Nikon bdc rifle scope mounted to it. Plan to hunt black bear and dear with it. Haven’t been able to shoot it yet but does anyone here have this same model? How does it shoot and group? What are your all three thoughts on this rifle?

I have eight Savages, 99’s and bolts, all shoot well, I’d be surprised if yours doesn’t. My 7 mag load is 64 or 65 grains of IMR 4350 with a Nosler Ballistic tip or Accubond. 140 grain bullets.

I have family down in East, Texas, south of Hanco. They are not "into" rifles like most of us here are, but they hunt a long season. They buy the combo Savages/scope and in 7mm Rem Mag! they are rough and tumble, rain and mud 4 wheeler guys who are pretty hard on their equipment. If a rifle actually "breaks", gets bent, etc, they just run down to Academy and get another ha. Oh yeah, they hardly ever shoot anything past 75yds or so, but they love the 7mm Mag "for those long shots" out on the pipeline ROW. Its a good rifle, have fun with it!

There was a time when I turned my nose up at the thought of owning a Savage. I bought a Hog Hunter 308 for a suppresser rifle. It shot better than I ever thought possible with full power loads. I bought a couple Savage 6.5 Creeds, same result. All shoot better than me. Same with the 99’s, never dreamed they would be so accurate. I have as many Savages as Remington 700’s now. If you had told me I would have as many Savage rifles as 700’s a few years ago, I’d would have busted out laughing.

How does it shoot and group? What are your all three thoughts on this rifle? Good rifle. However, you may want to upgrade those rings. The ones savage installs are garbage. I'd also pull the bases and loctite the screws. The ones my buddies have bought were not loctited from the factory and one buddy had the base screws loosen up. The rifle as a whole is a good economical package. The Nikon scope is not bad and will be sufficient for hunting... Expect 1 moa 3 shot groups from that rifle. Maybe even a bit better...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA
