Surely you fried that yellow squash up in some lard or bacon grease 😁

No, I just throwed it all in the green beans and boiled em, then greased em up with a tablespoon or so of butter. I’m tryin’ to eat more hearth healthy! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Currently making for tonight:

Pork roast with wild mushrooms, Parmesan grits, and greens.

Looked for a regular shoulder/butt roast, no love, got a blade roast instead. Bunch of garlic cloves punched into the meat, little S&P, sugar, and a bunch of other schit from the spice cabinet on the roast and tossed it in the fridge over night before roasting in the oven.

Kale trimmed and chopped and sautéed with rehydrated wild mushrooms and shallots. Minced garlic, S&P, etc.... The liquor from rehydrating the shrooms will make a killer stock to finish it.

Grits simply simmered in salted water then finished with heavy cream and a couple handfuls of good Parmesan. I have a bunch of fresh parsley I’ll probably chop and fold in.

Couple spoonfuls of grits topped with greens and shrooms and then sliced pork!

Wish you were closer, Blake.
We just left mom's.
Roast Beef and Moose, taters and gravy (of course), stuffing,
pickled red beets, homemade pickles, last year's frozen sweet corn.

That was 5 hours ago, Beth said she is getting hungry, and your spread sounds good.
I think she is making a sammy.

Hah! Me too, cousin!

A caribou roast your mom made is still one of the best game meals I’ve ever had the privilege to lift a lip over!

I was gonna ask....what's would you need an old German hanging around for?

We are gonna have a steak sampler tonight.

Got a package of ribs and t bones out.

Two per package....1 1/2 inch per steak.

Might be nice enough to grill, might just pan fry them.....(my favorite).

This will be a heifer that was open. We decided to finish her on barley. So far so good.....but have not tried a steak yet.

Old German beer Premium Lager. "The world knows no finer".

Was a local brewer before I was knee high to a grasshopper.
Everyone here drank it, or Rolling Rock.
Honestly, I thought it was bad years ago.
Cruising the local beer mall, I saw it, $13/case. grin

"Haven't had that in decades. $13, cant lose much".

Several years later, it's all I buy.

Just a light lager.
And I shouldn't even say that. My only beer knowledge is, "do i like it".
And I don't like most of the fancy schmance brews.
Except Honey Weise. That's my standby

I suspect I would like the hell out of it.

My standby's are Bud, PBR and High Life.

Bud more than the others these days.

PBR and High Life never go on sale!

PBR in these parts is damn expensive relatively speaking compared to other run of the mill American Lagers. Never see it on sale around here either and there is probably 50 places that sell beer within a couple of miles of my house.

Was mothers day, a bit late.
Last few years, I had dinner for the moms, and my wife.
For some reason, mother wanted to do it this year.

No ones will back me up, she likes the table crowded.

When we were on the farm and she was a young bride,
5 or 6 kids from the nearest town would work for my dad in the summer.
They lived there Monday to Friday, she learned to cook big, 6 teenage boys
Doing sawmill and farm work can put away the groceries.

Poor kids (mostly one family) they got some spending money, school clothing money,
And their parents didn't have to feed them.

Times have changed.

I brought home a bunch of bison cube steaks out of the ranch reefer last summer. My aunt says she didn’t order them(?) when she had her yearly bison processed. They were just in the boxes. Said I could have a bunch!! Woohoo!

Well I dunno why she don’t order them, I chicken fried a pair (Whole time I was thinking about you Jim Conrad!). They were awesome, tender, and easy on my choppers! Fresh garden green beans, radishes, and creamed potatoes to complement them! It was yum!

Smoked a 120 lb whole hog Saturday night. 2 kegs of beer and a bunch of friends. Not a morsel of pig was left.
