i may have a few things leaving the compound next couple of months, a goldwing, a nakkid goldwing, maybe my yamaha grizz 700. to buy a side by side.
that way i can take the dogs with me, haul stuff, including the wife.
I have probably five or so honda's laying around, have ridden them since the early 60's. when it came time to buy another quad, i bought the yamaha

Yamaha Grizzly. Honda would be my second choice. Fewer features, but drop-dead reliability.

2001 Honda Foreman 450. I have no idea how many miles (a buttload), the odometer was broken when I bought it used in 03 for 3 grand.

Damn near bullet proof. New battery once, a few different seat covers and she still fires up no problem.

If I ever upgrade I'll get independent suspension and power steering. 50 miles of rough trails kinda beats me up now that I'm old and cranky

I was elk hunting near Dillon Montana last fall, it was like a side by side circus. The elk seemed to love them, kept them aware of exactly where the hunters were.

You can't get elk outta places with a side by side like I can with my quad.....

I liked the way the can am drove a little better but I trust the Suzuki for reliability. I've never owned one so I don't know much about them. What way would you go and why?

No offense(really), but there is no way in hell I would spend 6k on either. Even if it a half price sale.

Jeff, If it’s a two-track, we can get there, and when we get there......we’re warm and dry! wink memtb

It's probably just my hunting tactics but most my elk seem to want to die in timbered up hell holes.

The abundance of side by sides did change some of my hunting strategies..at least while I was down around Dillon. The largest areas the side by sides could not access seemed to be holding most the elk. Of course that equates to heavily timbered, damn near vertical.

Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki in that order. I volunteer with a search team and use ATV's to get into areas to search. We beat the crap out of them and the Honda's just keep on going. We don't ride trails, we make them driving over and through brush to get to plane crash sites to remove remains or search for remains. I've never seen anyone have trouble with a Yamaha or Suzuki either, but Honda's are the preferred machine. We've had several Polaris and Can-Am's have to be towed back.

Side by sides have their place. Especially for what we do. The standard ones are more agile, but often we need to transport extra people and dogs and their handlers into search areas. It is a lot easier with a bigger machine. We have people with both types.

Some pics from a search in 2015. We found human remains just to the left of the lady in the 1st pic. That trail was made by driving ATV's through 10' tall briars.

i've had a hand full of Hondas. Never had an issues would get one any day of the week. I currently have a Can Am because I wanted something with more power. I've had it a few years, no issues. My father has had a Kawasaki (pretty much the same as a Suzuki) for the last 7+ years. It's been pretty good, no major engine/tranny issues. Overall a decent ATV, but still prefer a Honda, Yammy or Can Am.
