What should I expect to pay to have a barrel on a Remington 700 rebarrelled and headspaced with a factory pull-off?

Most will headspace as is. You can lap the recoil lug to tighten the HS.

I put a 700 barrel on a '51 721. The stamping isn't quite where you'd want it, but head spaced fine w/ no adjustments needed.

4 years ago I paid smith from Sturgis SD to do that very job on my old m700 ADL 7mm Rem Mag. Cost me $100 + 50 for the barrel. Around here take off 700 barrels were cheap as HS Precision took off a lot of them and sold them locally and on the internet. As I recall, he had to turn off some to index up the barrel lettering on the left side and recut to a minimum chamber. Well it was tighter than the original because I ended up having to resize all my casings to a smaller dimension. The original was one of those Hart ss ones but it was tired and the take off barrel I ended up with shoots even better than the original when it was new.MB

One of the most accurate rifles I own is a Remington 700 that was a .17 Rem until I shot the barrel out. Had IT&D install a .223 VSSF barrel I got from somebody on this site and open it up to 223 AI. Can't remember the cost but it was very reasonable and it will shoot 40 Gr BT's into .2-.3 at 100. With the 223 AI rechamber thrown in the mix, I believe he had to set it back a thread or two and set the headspace but he timed the barrel perfectly and it almost looks factory...

With no lug lapping, rechambering, or action re-facing, I'd expect about $150-200 to install the take-off barrel with the factory stamping in a decent spot.

I had Redneck install a Whelen barrel I got from a member here last year. As I recall, Lee turned it around in a day or two. The barrel turned on with correct headspace but I wanted the factory irons to index properly and they were just a little off so he had to do some extra work. Cost would have been significantly less that your estimate if I hadn't cared about the sights. The rifle shoots really well.
