Looking for a chronograph to use for reloading. Would like a magnetospeed but don’t have to be If you are needing this for reloading, don't buy that as the impact of the bullet will change when you take it off. You use the chrono to help you perfect your ammo. The best will be the Oehler 35P, then the rest. That Shooting Chrony is a good deal.

Huh, I reload and get by just fine with a MagnetoSpeed. But I only use it as a tool to get an idea where in the realm of pressure I am when working up to max. After that I let targets tell me what loads are doing rather than velocities. Then again we have different ideas on the Shooting Chrony too. I had an Oehler and while it worked great was a PITA to set up on the range with other shooters. When using the Oehler I aligned it with one target and generally shot multiple rifles and loads at that target so perfecting my ammo based on what that target showed was as useless as anything else. Different strokes.

I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

I am just looking to get velocities with it. It will not be on the whole time. The magnetospeed would work better for me since I have to use a public range. The 35p looks very nice but all looks very cumbersome to set up. Hopefully one day I can upgrade to a labradar

It is possible to mount the magnetospeed to a bracket or rest instead of on the barrel. Here is one such in the thread below: Magneto Speed Sporter ChronographI believe there are some other members besides Dirtfarmer who have made rests or supports for a magnetospeed and posted pics of their setups you can search.
