I was wondering if anyone on here has ever loaded 375 H&H rounds with Trail Boss gun powder?
Pet loads with it?
Comfort when shooting, and lastly accuracy?

I have not used trailboss in the 375. I have used it in various calibers. One bit of my experiences may apply to you. In larger calibers most jacketed bullets are heavily constructed. I had a issues with the bullet engraving the rifling. Seems as if the trailboss is not producing enough pressure to get the bullet to expand to fill the bore.

I have a Ruger #1 in 475 linebaugh. Yes a totally different critter than your 375. But with heavy jacketed bullets accuracy was horrible keyholeing actually. Recovered some bullets they barely had scratches from the rifling. Same bullet with a standard pressure load accurate as can be. Encountered similar issues in a 8mm mauser and a 7.62x54. Low end trailboss loads where not very accurate and showed slight signs of not hitting square. Went to max trailboss loads and accuracy was as good as I could expect from any load in both rifles.

So I think your best bet with trailboss is max loads and soft bullets. Either a thin jacketed or a softer cast or a cast sized nearly to bore size.

As for recoil. Again lower recoil cartridges have been my experience. But of the calibers I mentioned recoil was honestly non existent. Like shooting a 22 long rifle.

I have some bullets that were made for the 375 Win. that I was planning on using. they are flat nose but the usable range will not be real far, so don't think the BC will make a real difference.

With the 200 gr Sierra flat nose I bet it makes a great deer load. Should be similar to the 38/55 or 375 Win.

Uh, most commercial jacketed bullets are within 0.001” of actual bore (groove) diameter. They do not need to “expand to fill the bore”. They don’t get “scratched”, they get engraved by the rifling. This is one of the silliest posts I’ve seen in a while. crazy

I have never used Trail boss in my 375 H&H.

But if you looking for a mild load, I would be more inclined to use H4895 and their reduced loads recipe. Check the Hodgdon website.

Trail Boss is not as economical to shoot, but works great for very low velocity loads. In my experience H4895 has been superb for reduced loads.

I would use AA5744 for reduced loading.
Their data shows 40 gr. 2058 fps 60 gr. 2900 fps with 200 gr Sierra FN. In the 375H&H

I use this powder in a 375 RUM. with 225 Hornady

Trailboss is a hoot in my two 338 Winchester magnums. Fill the case up to about 90% to the base of the bullet. Tamed the big bores we’ll in my experience and very comfortable and fun to shoot. If you use cast bullets size them .001” to .002” over bore diameter.
Best of luck,
Rick

This is hardly a reduced load. And it is excessive velocity for the Sierra bullet which is designed for lower velocity. It may work for targets but would not be recommended for game.

I use 46 grains of AA5744 in my 50 cal. Muzzle loader. grin
So I do have some of it to try without any extra cost.
