I may receive 3 or 4 a month. Maybe a few more if someone is haveing health issues that I am being kept abreast of... I NEVER send any text messages period, and don't plan on starting.
I have a flip phone that I use for my business.

Told them at work that my old flip phone didn't do text. Saved me from hundreds of "to all" texts that didn't apply to me. If they really needed to get a hold of me they did have my phone number.

I actually prefer text in most comms. I have one bud that is like Boomhauer, I can't be on the phone with him. He gets to rambling about transmissions, tunnel rams, super chargers, Holy crap...text is way better with him 😄 Same with my hayseed mother in law- bless her heart, she sounds like minnie mouse with tourrette's syndrome.
