I have for sale a Dan Wesson V-Bob in the black duty finish. It is in very good condition and comes with factory case and paperwork. I’m guessing less than 500 rounds down the pipe. I am looking for $1350 shipped to your FFL for the pistol. Make sure your dealer will accept from an individual. Please don’t hesitate to pm me with any questions.

Is this a Duty Coat or Duty Treat?

As far as I know DW calls their finish Duty Treatment.

DW, from my understanding, has had a Duty Coat which was some sort of surface coating similar to cerakote, and then switched to the Duty Treat; which is an impregnation of the surface metal similar to the nitride finishes.

Do you know about when they made this change? I can try running the serial # and see if I can figure out the manufacture date. I don’t know if it’ll be on the plastic case or not. I can check.

Until 2009, the black duty finish (Duty Coat) was a ceramic coating similar (or the same as) to cerakote. From 2010 on, Dan Wesson has used ferretic nitrocarburizing (melonite, Duty Treat).

It’s a post 2010 so it’ll be a duty treat.

Great looking pistol Reno... BTT for one of the best guys you'll ever deal with...

The Duty Treat is considered to be greatly preferable. I have similar finishes on a couple pistol slides/barrels and an AR Barrel and the stuff just works. Doesn’t wear much at all and I’ve never had a rust issue.

It doesn’t show any wear from the first 500rds or so. I have read it is extremely durable and that is one of the reasons I picked it up.
