I'm a little late, but I cannot let a hay thread going by without mentioning how much I hated baling hay (small, but heavier than hell, squares).

Grass.
Timothy or brome/Timothy.

Don't you stack them neatly on a hay rack like I used to have to do?

No Rooster, used a kicker baler that slings them bales. The only thing I have to worry about is missing the target on a sharp turn. Sure cuts down on extra farm labor. If I want to mow them, I hire a neighbor kid to unload them on to the elevator and I stow them.

In the case of this harvest, I will deliver several loads right off the wagons to a horse farm down the road. Another horse farm is sending a flatbed eighteen wheeler to be loaded right off wagons. I donate some to 4-H county fair participants and many of the parents will haul.

But, don't get me wrong, I admire a neat stack of bales on a hay rake.
