With heavies the edge goes to the big 6 by a fair margin on paper at least. Real world...not much till you get out there a ways.

When I was waiting on my 6-06 build I bought a basic Rem 700 SPS to play with and hunt with as for some reason I had a 6mm bug. My kids also shot a couple of youth model .243s and my brother shoots a 1:10 Howa that loves the 95 Berger. The critters in the pics fell to a mix of 85 TSX and 100 sgk from in your lap close to about 400 yards.

The factory twist rate is a handicap but within typical ranges I see no flies on the standard .243.

A Vanilla Big Green 243Win,will stabilize,Smooch and fit the 105 Hornie HPBT in the magbox and 3100fps is a breeze, with '17.

You've got the atmosphere,to REALLY let schit breathe and stretch it's legs. A scope that actually steers bullets, would blow your mind.

Good to know on the Hornady. I have a box on my bench just never opened them. Have to check on the 17. I know I have 15, 19, 22, and 23. 3100 would be formidable for sure with that pill.

I'd rather '15,than the others you cite. It were THE standby for many moons,in said chambering.

Thanks for the tip. I sold my long barreled remington but still have my sons 18.5" youth model that seems to shoot most bullets well and generally produces very good velocities before hitting pressure. Will be interesting to see if we can wake it up with a 105 Hornady and some '17. He has been wanting to play a little further than his current load will allow.

Call it 3000fps for giggles at 5000' elevation,with the 105 Hornie and a 6x MQ...ala 225yd zero.

Just gawking through the windshield gets it to the 1225yd line. Stays supersonic to the 1400yd line. 10mph full value at 1225yds,is but halfa reticle at 2.5 Mils. You'll blow your own mind on the first fhuqking shot and will learn more on your first outing, than evrything you know now. Straight up Game CHANGER. Everything you think is "good" know, you will fhuqking hate, after having seen the light.(grin)

"Toldjaso" wayyyyyyyy in advance.

Thank me later.

While you were running that I ran it at 2900 to be conservative at my elevation of 3400'. Still impressive if the gun will shoot them and they open up on game. I don't know much so it doesn't take much to double my learning.

I shoot that bullet in 6x45,243LBC,6BR,6XC,Seex Speedmire,243Win SALAMI,243 Win AI,6mm RemSALAMI,6mmRem AI,6-284 and Seex-Twat Six...they all hammer Critters. NO worries there.

The rifle will certainly do it's part, but glass is hurting you more than you know.

That chart is almost the exact same drop as the Hornady load for the 110 ELD-X in the 25-06.

So if a guy only needs to go to 500 yards then the 25-06 would also be easy mode to get there.

"Almost" is VERY soothing for Melting Snowflakes...you "lucky" kchunt.

Funny schit! Itty-bitty 224 Speedmire left and the Almost on the right.

This is the chart for the 110 ELD-X in factory fodder.

I adjusted for 225 yards.

Trajectory Results
RANGE (YDS) TOTAL COME UP (IN)

0 +1.37
100 -1.62
200 -0.88
300 +4.46
400 +15.11
500 +31.98

As you can see ALMOST means its actually a little flatter to the range I mentioned.

Sorry for facts upsetting you so.

I only mentioned this in this thread because the thread is actually about the 25-06. My only intention is to point out that a 25-06 with 110 ELD-X would fit in this scenario as well, to 500 yards anyways.

I am also glad you let your true colors come out so the poster doesn't become fooled into thinking your a person of reputable sources.

Not sure why you are bringing up the 22 Creed as I did not see mention of gophers anywhere in this thread.
