Mrs. tzone doesn't understand why I don't keep any fish to eat. We tried hard to catch some in the slot limit. We danced all around it but never hit it.

Yeah, I know a real sob story. grin

Tom, what is your slot ?

For us, it depends on the lake.

Common, sport fishing license - 4 fish per day - 3 must be under 18.1" - if in a no slot lake, you are allowed 1 over 18.1".

If in the Wabiboon chain - 3 unders + 1 fish over 21.8".

If in the Eagle lake chain - 3 unders + 1 fish over 22.8".

Same here. That was Mille Lacs and you can only keep fish until Memorial Day weekend. The slot there was 21"-23". We caught fish all around those marks but noting in it.

I love pork on the grill. Those look great! I fired up the smoker as well and smoked an 8# pork loin. We ate 1/2 of it. The other 1/2 I'm turning into pulled pork sammiches tonight.

That was very nice of Mr. and Mrs. Wabi~

So, you can only keep fish inside your slot limit ?

If so, that's the opposite of us. In slot size ='s must be returned unharmed.

I coach our high school trap team and they made it to Nationals this year, which happens to be held in the middle of Michigan. so I park at the shoot this morning and a car with Minnysoda plates pulls in next to me and out jump 3 hooligans with green and white jerseys from some off the map place called Roseau. Now google fu shows these folks traveled a 1000 miles and 15 hours to shoot.

Seems these kids can shoot too. #4 outta 206 teams with each kid averaging 96 out of 100. I looked on the sheet for a shooter named RunsWithScissors, but apparently that's not his professional name. I wish them well in the Finals on Sunday.

Our kids did less good. I blame the coach.

So cool that the HS trap shooting has exploded on the scene. Seems like most of the schools around here now have a trap team. Great to see these kids getting a chance at this.

Hey CFT, I know the kids that went. Good kids, pretty proud of the 4th place finish.

Individual leaderboard shows some fellas named Nolan, Jonathan, Beau, Owen, Henry, Tyler, Dalton, Julian, and a gal named Ruthie from your neck of the woods.

1668 shooters, 44 trap fields spreading out over 1.25 miles. 374,000 shells fired over 3 days. Sounds like popcorn popping for 8 hours straight. 50 million rounds shot by the kids in this organization nationwide since its inception and not one injury. Safer than chess club. Fastest growing high school sport. Pretty cool.

CFT, we got word this morning that our roseau shooters are the national champions. We know all those kids you named. Joey shoots with them but Joe is a rookie, he's got good mentors though!

Apparently the 4th place thing was qualifying for finals or something?

Holy Crap! CONGRATULATIONS! That's awesome!

Yep, Friday was qualifying day for teams that made it to Nationals. Saturday was for individual shooters. They took the top 80 teams out of 206 to shoot in the National Championship on Sunday. Just checked. Roseau is #1!

Out of 100 targets, your squad of 5 kids shot 99, 99, 98, 98, 97. Dang. This old guy has been shooting trap for a very long time. I'd be hard pressed to come up with 4 rounds of 25 like that. Well done. The whole town should be proud. smile

Hope to see Joey there maybe next year?

Actually, busch pilot's son is an advanced shooter with the roseau team. Maybe in the near future him in Joey will both attend nationals.
